Roll Call “Chicago” (Part 1)

This has been my experience

Funny to hear Zigfield Troy getting a shootout on the Shotgun Start this week. Growing up and not knowing much about golf I had always thought it was a dive. The last time i played there was probably 15 years ago with two non golfing buddies who were stoned/drunk and I knocked one in from about 80 yards for a hole in one*. I was all “HOLY SHIT!?!” and they just grabbed their clubs and said “Cool”. Oh well. I need to bring my 6 year old out there this summer.

*I know that hole in one’s on a par 3 course don’t actually count.

Me and the boys got absolutely ejected at Highlands today in 25+ mph wind. I’m shell shocked and frightened to go back for awhile. Greens were rolling very fast and were a nightmare

VillageLinks was a horror show as well. Tough day out there.

Played Mt Prospect today and it was insane. Greens incredibly firm. If there is not a PCC adjustment for today then the whole fucking thing is rigged.

How is the fairway on #2? Did it get fixed since last season?

I played late last year and it was repaired, waiting for growth.

Yes looked all good now, however I launched my driver left and lost it as well as my shot after my drop so…ya

I’ve somehow come down with the two way miss off the tee just in time for Bowes Creek tomorrow. Wind should be howling again…

Super windy this afternoon, 20 mph sustained wind.

Played Calumet yesterday, was in much better shape than I expected given reviews. A handful of greens had some rough spots, but only one pin was anywhere near those areas. Given price and general tee time availability, definitely a recommend from me.

Could you let me know if it’s actually applied? I never saw it used last year and was the main reason I didn’t renew my official handicap. I played in some hellish wind last year and nothing.

Wow they actually applied a +1 PCC adjustment to the round!

Guis, I just got absolutely owned by Bowes Creek and the wind! First TRIPLE DIGIT score in probably 4 years. Damn. Still had fun though… once I realized I suck.

Get well soon :disappointed:

Yeah, it was nuts. Those greens have too much wild countour to run that firm and fast. Especially not in that wind. Really encouraging that they were that smooth, though. Big improvement over late last season. Has to be a result of the lack of rain, creek was really low. You wouldn’t think they’d mow it so close.

That was my first time playing there… do they have water issues normally? I searched for ball marks to fix and couldn’t find any! So hard. I enjoyed the course and would love to play with less wind.

It’s kind of a bad system. It’s automated based upon scores posted vs. expected scores posted and requires 8+ people to post at the course before any calculations occur. Unless you’re at a private club or nice public course where everyone is posting scores, you won’t get an adjustment regardless of how bad the conditties are.

ETA: Just for the sake of clarity, posting = posting w/ your CDGA account (not a free service). Just don’t think there are enough non-club members that are carrying CDGA accounts for PCC adjustments to work the way they should (pure specualtion).

For another data point, I am a CDGA member but don’t play too often in lousy weather. Last year I posted one round in mid October at Shepherds that did get adjusted. It was pretty windy that day.

My only adjustment ever was a -1 which I was none too pleased with, but conditions were perfect and hole locations were easyish. Played numerous rounds in hellacious wind at a club where everyone posts and never got a + adjustment. I’m expecting to get one today but unless its like a +8 its not going to make that round a keeper :joy:
