Need to have the 195 shot dialed in on number 4, unless the pin is the one or two spots where the redan works as designed.
Personally, I seem to have more difficulty carding a respectable score on 7 than I do with number 4.

I’ve not played it from those tees but I probably should. It’s an on-the-screws 3h for me from the blacks that invariably ends up in the right bunkers with a short-sided pin.
7 can definitely be a beast if you’re in between clubs at all, depending on the pin position.
The hardest-to-birdie holes for me would probably be 4, 6, 16, and 2.
It’s all “cad software imagery” until he throws a dart, smokes a dart, and sends you a venmo request at 7 a.m. while you get a doughnut (that you won’t tell your wife about) on your drive home.
Replying to both MP posts here to maximize non-Nest post constraints:
2 and 4 will probably be incredibly difficult birds and will gladly settle for pars on those holes. I’ve had decent luck with 7 whenever I’ve played it, it’s a much more manageable shot since you can see the entire green. 10 and 12 can be tricky, you think you know where the pin is standing on the tee but you get to the green and it’s like 20 feet back from where you thought it was.
I only made par on 6 a handful of times last year due to lucky up and downs or par saves from so far north I was practically in Arlington Heights.
Damn dude you must be hauling ass out of the classroom every day. Teaching in the loop, I’m lucky to get home in time to go to the range
I only live 5 minutes from MP and make use of every last second of lunch and my prep to get work done so I can bail right at 2:45. Any extra work I’ll do after I get home.
I’ll probably be remote all year with how badly COVID’s impacting my school community, unfortunately.
Oh yeah well I’m unemployed… so HA! Golf whenever I want! (golfnow hot deals only).
I never mentioned on here I got my dad this custom routing map of the very prestigious Valley Ridge. Spiron designs on Etsy. It was pretty cheap. I tell everyone the hole on the bottom left is the inspiration for pebble beach #8
I don’t think pebble did a great job tbh, I worked maintenance over the summer and the super at the course I worked at used to be the super at Valley Ridge.
Ya know, that picture looks way more like a real golf course than it does in person.
Next year I’m going to win the club championship or die trying
If you make it, I’ll carry your bag in the final.
I used to live in Antioch and Valley Ridge was the course I became a golf sicko on.
I had a pretty liberal summer schedule and they always had a daily $15 with a cart coupon so you just couldn’t beat it.
I honestly think if that place was ever in any kind of decent shape it would be a pretty good course.
It needs a few modifications too. Maybe convert it to a par 68/69 and add a few humps and bumps in the greens
I’ve been playing the same 10 or so courses around the Chicago area my entire life and want to expand my horizons. I tried using the search but it’s all over the place. Is there a list somewhere of “must play” public courses?
Obviously, “must play” and public courses don’t go hand in hand… but you catch my drift.
If anyone wants to toss in their top 5/10 list that would be siiiiick.
Shepherds Crook
Mount Prospect
Ravisloe
Highlands of Elgin
Bowes Creek
Sunset Valley
Cog Hill Ravines
Mostly the Same here with two drops ( Bowes and Ravines) and two adds (Thunderhawk and Stonewall Orchard)
I’ll add Blackstone to the lists that others have already posted. Can be on the more difficult side but still a fun course to play.
Preserve can be good too.
Bowes, HoE, Prairie, Harborside Starboard, Sunset Valley, Cantigny, Mistwood.
