Roll Call: Central New York

I am in the Syracuse area for the week and looking to get out and play on Thursday or Friday. Anyone in the area want to meet up and play a round?

Roost applications will be up soon. If your not signed up please do. No commitment necessary but good to see who is interested so they see there are numbers involved.

First time poster in this thread - long time lurker…

Where do you guys in the greater Syracuse area play? My wife is from East Syracuse and we’re in town a lot. I haven’t found my ā€œgo toā€ spot yet. I’ve played Links at Erie Village a few times because my wife grew up in the neighborhood right next door but it feels like it’s basically under water all season.

I’ve also played Timber Banks, Northern Pines and Camillus.

Green Lakes comes up a lot but I’ve never been able to make that one work, tee time-wise.

I feel like Green Lakes is the only proper answer here.

I also recommend heading a little south and playing Vesper Hills. Well maintained course and an excellent deck with a beautiful view of Otisco Lake for post round beers.

Anyone play out at Rogues Roost or McConnellsville? Vesper is definitely an awesome course.

I play at Drumlins East - it is quirky but has very challenging, well-maintained greens and a has good crew of members. It’s private but shoot me a note and if I am around, we could play (not sure the guest fee). Alternatives besides those already mentioned are Drumlins West. It is cheap and gets hit hard by the undergrads, but the first seven holes are actually very cool. There is also the 9 hole Tecumseh course that doesn’t look like much, but it is actually a lot of fun. Many of the greens are tiny and it is very hilly.

Thanks my friend…I’ll keep that in mind

Long long shot here. Anyone a member at Shinnecock that I could pay a guest fee to get on. Will be 5 minutes from the course from august 9th-12th. My guess is absolutely a no shot. But you gotta try.

I’d be willing to bet my house there are no members of Shinnecock in the Central NY (4-5 hours away from the Hamptons) Roll Call.

I’d try one of the NYC threads. But yeah, good luck.

Nice little article here on my old town. They left out my old home course (Walden Oaks), but it was still cool to stumble across the article.

Went to SUNY Cortland for college. Have played this several times. Cool to see it highlighted in this way.

Agree. I lived there six years and don’t miss living there at all (I’m not a northeast guy, I need my 300+ days of sunshine) but it is a cool little town and I enjoy going back and visiting.

Is this where I say GO BOMBERS!

(ohhhhh Cortica Jug games…what a memory)

While, my wife did teach at both, we’re going to ask you to not (politely of course as is the spirit of Cortica). :unamused:

At least I never took part in the State School chants :upside_down_face:

Also, I really only went to 1 half of 1 Cortland/IC game while there, but have been to 2 since graduation - one at IC and the one in 2019 at freaking Met Life LOL.

We never actually went to the games. Generally just posted up downtown Cortland at Harry Tony’s and enjoyed the general revelry. Having moved from East Lansing, it wasn’t really a party until the couches started burning, lol.

That game at MetLife was the last season we were there. Absolutely wild it got played there.

I’m a little late to this post.

I live in the Elmira/Corning, NY area. It’s hard to beat Mark Twain and Soaring Eagles around here. Costs about $45 - $50 for 18 and a cart.
