Yocha was awesome - played back in May. Great conditions some dif options off the tee. Nice views. Perfect greens. And hey, look a casino!

Sacramento golfer here. Let me know if there are anymore of you close to me to get some foursomes together.

Huh, what a bizarre and yet enticing day of golf. I might have gone around Northwoods twice, just because it’s so out of the way and so special. I haven’t played GG in a LOOONG time, but kudos to you for this whole expedition!

Corica South is my favorite course in the immediate Bay Area. I play Peacock mostly, but the only truly better courses available to shlubs like me are Half Moon Bay, Harding (maybe) and a few places up in Napa. Corica is amazing.

Have not played:

Half Moon
The Renovated Corica South
Baylands
Bodega Bay
Gleneagles

All on my bay area public course bucket list

Gleneagles or Corica would be an awesome Refugee meetup

Would definitely drive down for a meetup game with the proper heads up

A San Mateo golfer here… Your list matches to my current course rotation… just need to add Stanford and remove Bodega, Gleneagles… I have never played either of these… but I would love to hear more about them.

Some course feedback:

Half moon “Old” is great. (Play it)
Corica South is fantastic for the price… (Be Aware the greens are still young - AKA very firm)
Baylands is solid… (Be Aware again young greens and afternoons can be windy as f&%$)

Enjoy.

Wow, I don’t think I’ve played nearly as many local courses as I want to and yet I’ve played all of those. My remaining bucket courses are mostly private though.

I’d be way up for a Refugee meetup at Corica. Gleneagles too, though that’s a whole different vibe.

I bet if we did a twilight at Gleneagles we could play fast and cheap. Not sure I can say the same for Corica.

Oh I wouldn’t argue that point at all.

Is there a time that Corica isn’t super crowded? Been dying to get out there

I don’t actually think it’s super crowded. They space out the tee times appropriately. It’s not empty, ever, but if you go out in the morning even on a weekend you should be fine. It’s nothing as bad as Tilden or Monarch Bay in terms of being backed up on every hole. I can’t remember playing Corica South since the renovation and waiting on more than one or two holes, which were par-3s.

Team - anyone trying to launch 'em 3:40pm time at Corica South tomorrow afternoon?

Oomph…can confirm lack of tee time control and let’s be honest, over saturation of total hacks makes Monarch a hard pass.

I’m no snob. You can be bad at golf and enjoy it (I’m not even very good). Just play up with the group ahead. Not 3 balls off every (poorly selected) tee box, and play ready golf.

A shame bc I quite like the course itself.

We called it quits at 9 after an excruciating 2 hr 40 min.

‘Marshals came by. We complained. He chuckled, shrugged, agreed it was slow and drove off. No attempt to control pace of play. Ah well. Corica next time.

Sorry for the vent. Hope you all had a better Saturday golf day!

Monarch is a joke on weekends. Played in a tournament (MGA) about this time last year. All our tee times were 20 minutes late, then the marshal decided to come harass the second to last group in our tournament for playing too slow after we waited on every single tee box. That included yelling at me in my downswing when I had to retee a shot (because my first was OB and it’s a tournament). My buddy got within a word or two of physically throwing down with the marshal, then called the pro shop to complain. They were pissed about it, but the marshal responded by coming BACK to our group to say he didn’t appreciate us calling his boss.

All four of us walked over to him and told him in no uncertain terms he needed to find a different spot on the course ASAP.

Damn, I’m getting mad about it all over again. That round took almost six hours by the way. Never playing there again on a weekend - or maybe regardless.

Wow. That’s crazy. Yeah I can’t see ever going there on a weekend again. I didn’t mention that - but we also were about 15 mins delayed off 1. Ridiculous management.

Gang,

Have just made a tee time for 2:20 today at Gleneagles. Currently 3 spots still available online if you want to join up.

What’d you think of it? I was out of town or would’ve tried to make the trek out there
