Sure am.
Flying into Monterey was a key component as to not have a ton of time wasted driving to and fro.

Get yourself some breakfast at First Awakenings in Pacific Grove.
Sounds like everyone has the golf covered. I would definitely checkout Alvarado St. Brewery on Alvarado St. in Downtown Monterey. Good thing is it’s a short walk to Fieldwork too, and then the wharf if you want to get a little touristy.
Also, there’s super chill wine bar on the way to the wharf across from the Portola hotel. They also have have a few local beers there and Jason behind the bar is great.
GTFO with that nonsense.
Everyone knows Toasties is the spot for breakfast.
I just realized what this was (joined the group shortly after the initial post), I’m totally open to plying if there’s extra room or if somebody drops. Hopefully there’s a warm flask (not literally) later this year!
Matt, we have spots left for sure. We have 17 teams as of now…not just Refugees but all kinds of cool peeps. would love to have you join! Find a partner or just let me know if you’d like to play as a single.
And yes, assuming I don’t totally screw this up and people enjoy themselves we will do it again in the fall.
Late notice but I’m playing Lincoln Park today at 11am. Practice round for SF City next month. Probably will pop into State Apparel for a beer and trackman afterward. If anyone wants to join at Lincoln or meet up at state, lemme know.
Ah amazing! I’ll sign up as a single, should I just email Patrick to get things in motion?
Just send me a DM on here or an email. I’ll get you more deets.
Hello Wonderful bay area folks.
I will be in SF late May (23rd-25th) and was looking to get any suggestions on a round in the city or perhaps with a fellow refugee!
I read through most the thread to look for suggestions and there was a ton of great info. At this point in time does any one have any insight on if I should play Presido, Harding or something else? I will be staying in town and won’t have a rental until we leave SF Monday night. So getting to a round outside of town may be a pain in the ass.
Luckily for me when we leave, it will be to spend the night in Santa Cruz before playing at Pasa the next day.
P.S. I saw someone mentioned reaching out to Cal Club, Meadows, or SF about getting on as a bucket list item. Is that even a real remote possibility without having reciprocal membership at a similarly elite club?
The PGA championship is a week and a half before your visit. I assume the course will be open but who knows what kind of shape it’ll be in. Definitely worth a call.
As for your last question on the private clubs, it’s virtually impossible with the invite of a member. Tough scene.
My recs:
Presidio
Harding if it’s open
Corica Park across the bay in Oakland area
Sharp Park
Gleneagles
Enjoy Pasa! That’ll make the whole trip.
Yea,
The being a week after the PGA made me nervous that it may just be beat to hell.
P.S. Thanks for the advice!
One other question. Pasa will literally let me book now for a May tee time. Is it worth waiting? I plan on playing early so I doubt I will get a chance at a discounted rate, but if holding off for a couple months allows me to drop the price it seems worth it imo.
Sometimes early rates are discounted, sometimes midday rates. It kinda varies.
If it were me and I only had the one day to play and the date wasn’t flexible, then I’d probably suck it up, book ahead of time paying full freight. Trust me, once you’re there you will not be bothered about what you paid. (Just don’t be online checking a week before you go and be upset if you find out the guy playing 10 minutes after you booked for half the price. Book it and never look at the tee time engine again.)
Heads up. Pasa aeration schedule is late April (starts the Monday 8 days after Masters Sunday) So early May you are only about 2 weeks after aeration. I’ll likely be in town that weekend. Maybe we can get out somewhere in the city with some other refugees.
Gents I know it’s a bit of a long shot but I’m
Turning to the refuge.
If anyone is available to loop for me on February 14-16 at Lincoln/Harding, let’s work out a deal. I’m going to win the SF city and I’d love to have a refugee on the bag. Let me know. Craic on.
I’m around and free that weekend and usually play. I’m also in the city so if transportation is needed - can drive / pick u up.
We’ll see what the rest of the crew thinks / comes up with and go from there but yeah. You’re in good company. Active crew here.
