Roll Call: Bay Area Golfers

Correct

Give us a shout. I’m sure someone would try to join you.

Tee times are not typically an issue but very easy to book online and they only hit you for $5 for 30 day advance.

Moving to Santa Rosa in a couple weeks for a six month travel contract. Been back and forth a lot as my SO lives there.

Would love to grab a cold beer at Old Caz or play a round with some of y’all! Looking to get involved in the North Bay golf scene and make some new friends, Cheers!

High handicap but play fast and freaking love the game.

We have a pretty solid crew of north bay players (myself included). Tee times usually get organized in the slack channel. Dm me or @GremlinGolfer and we’ll get you plugged in.

Nine is enough for all the vibes. I’d say early morning is great, but really anytime. There really shouldn’t be an issue getting a tee time.

Tee times at Northwood are more like… guidelines.

June is when things are fairly crowded. Mid Am on a Sat / Sun will be backed up. worth it still, but 2.5-3 hrs to play nine. If you can swing a midweek (Friday am or Monday AM) I’d do that. You can’t just walk on anymore as a single (Thanks EAL…)
I live about 15 mins away and am always up for a walk in the trees.

So @lostinspace I’d say be aware that the drive from Napa Valley to Pasatiempo is probably 3+ hours each way. It’s so good that it’s worth any amount of driving but you should keep that very much in mind.

I’d highly recommend doing a day of Bodega Bay and then nine at Northwood. That’s a tremendous day. I’d guess you could get some folks out here to join you for that!

Harding Park for me is not worth the money you’d be paying but it’s certainly very much worth playing. Others like it a lot more than me, but best to not expect too much and you’ll have a great time.

A fun course but also be Corica North, which will open for a full 18 in a month or so, and where our Roost is having it’s NIT qualifying tournament this May. The South course there is already a ton of fun but we expect the North to be even better.

@thefriedegg thought his Central California bit was a harmless joke, but we can see here that it’s had real life consequences.

Its all fun and games until someone thinks Fresno is part of the Bay Area.

I want to apologize in advance if Napa is NorCal and not Central hand up that’s on me.

Thanks for all the recommendations and about Pasa I knew that but I drove to Sand Valley and back from Chicago twice in the same week so I’m no stranger to #haveclubswilltravel (quite regularly do it for HCC meetups)

As we get closer to time I’ll reach out in this group and try to get some tee times together and I’d love to meet as many of yall as I can!

Also I think this goes without saying but regardless, if any of yall want to hang out or get dinner in Napa please let me know my wife and the other couple we are going with are very chill and get a kick out of meeting people that I met “on some random golf blog thing” so I’m sure worst case we could share some drinks.

It is very much NorCal, but nothing to apologize for. It just played perfectly into Andy’s Shotgun Start geography bit

Piggybacking off @greebs a bit:

  • Pasatiempo is definitely worth the drive. Just be aware that when Greebs said 3+ hours, it’s because you’ll likely run into some bad traffic. No traffic it’s about 2:15-2:30.
  • Harding is cool because it’s a major course, but I feel the same as Greebs that for the out of towner rate, it could be a tough pill to swallow. I’d really take a look at Presidio Golf Course. For about half the price, it’s a much more diverse golf course. That said totally understand playing Harding. It is cool to be able to see Olympic Club just across the lake, too.
  • I would definitely vouch for Corica Park. If you’re a 36 hold kinda guy, playing the North and the South with lunch at Jim’s in the middle would be an awesome day. Tron has been quoted as saying the front nine of the north is a cross between Sweetens and the Old Course or something like that lol.
  • Northwood-Bodega is a fun day. I’ve only done it doing Northwood last. That said, I’ve heard Northwood can get very busy on weekday afternoons, so the morning might be the way to go there and then do Bodega after. It’s definitely quirky, but some great views and 15-17 is a very cool stretch, too.

These are all great recs and Corica Park has been on the radar but I think overshadowed by the Harding Park PGA Champ Venue thing but I’m absolutely in for a north/south day that sounds so sick. I want to mix it up and happy to have a good 36 holer as I’m a sicko when it comes to this stuff.

Are you playing solo or is someone with you?

Just me as far as I know. I may have the husband of the other couple with me one of the days but he’s not a golfer so that’s tbd.

In the process of building a golf trip next year around Pasatiempo. More than likely not including any of the Pebble Beach properties. Help with 3-4 others on trip. Driving a distance for something cool/great isn’t a deterrent.
