Roll Call: Bay Area Golfers

I’m coming from Houston so most cities are far better off traffic wise than us. When I was out in the Bay Area in the fall of 2021, I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of traffic. Drive up from SFO was a breeze. Though those were still pretty heavy COVID times so maybe it’s worsened or gone back to pre pandemic levels

You probably haven’t driven in and around nyc and DC. Compared to those places Bay Area traffic is manageable. Relatively predictable, although the bay bridge east bound is always a cluster fuck. But in nyc and DC, highways outside the main downtown area can be completely fucked at random times.

The reverse Rush Hour doesn’t hurt, either.

I grew up near Atlanta. I think the traffic here is not as bad. It’s all relative.

Second the Fleming rec. Beautiful property. Not an easy 9!

What’s the latest at Corica North? Have they started on the new 9? Are the existing holes under construction or impacted in any way?

Firm I work for just set May 1 to 4, 2024 partners’ retreat for Napa. Any good golf near there? Is there a place I could tack on heading north?

Silverado is decent. They play the Fortinet on the North course there. You can book with Visa Infinite Troon Rewards for about $100. Northwood is a bit out of your way, but worth the trip to see.

Better to ask this question here.

Mayacama is about 45 minutes away if you have some connections. Great track, phenomenal setting. Over the top service.

Silverado is fine. Eagle Vines and Chardonnay are also close and are okay – but it can be very windy in the afternoons.

I’m in a distinct minority in that I don’t think the drive from Napa to play 9 holes at Northwood is worth it. But I get that lots of folks around here rave about the vibe of playing among redwoods.

I live fairly close to Napa, in Santa Rosa. Please feel free to PM me with questions.

Babe remind me about this next year. I’m in South Carolina through the 1st but would love to host you at my club maybe after your Napa retreat.

Boo! Just called to make our reservations for The Hay at the end of the month. Thought I was being helpful mentioning that my son was going to be using his Youth On Course card, only to be promptly told that I couldn’t make his reservation until the 1 day out. WTF?

What was the reasoning they gave you for that? We just booked 3 tee times for a month out.

The Youth On Course card only allows 1 day advanced booking. So even though I was booking for two other people, I couldn’t book the YOC slot. Going to call back and see if I can figure something out.

Well that’s certainly bullshit.

That’s such a fucked up, intentionally shitty policy. Someone with an audience should make that more known and shame them. Seriously messed up

Oh hey there Bay Area. Will be in town this week with Saturday open for golf. I have 36 booked right now to play the Half Moon Bay courses (Ocean & Old). Is there something better I should be looking at? I have played TPC harding before but the rest of the courses in the area I’d love to play (Lake Merced, Olympic) etc would appear to be private. Any feedback/guidance appreciated.

Just looking to get out as a single joined to another group or solo. 3.5 handicap. Money not really an issue so long as the course is worth it.
