Amen. Was going to ask if folks had recs on conditions. I assume Moffett is bad since they were closed for awhile. By contrast, Spyglass was immaculate two weeks ago, but that’s obviously an entirely different ballgame.
This is 1000% correct. Really fun course, but wait until you can get the twilight rate and beat that up. Find somewhere else during the winter months.
You’ll find no shortage of love for it on this message board but Corica has been great when I was out there. Lots of sand it’s draining well.
I’m not a member but I did have the cost info PDF at some point. Let me try and dig it up.
Happy Friday.
Had a couple of people back out for a round at Poppy Hills at 9:50am, Sunday 2/12. Going to play and then head to a bar after to watch the game. Let me know.

is that a typo or are you actually booking out a 4some 8 months from now?
if the latter 1. i’m impressed 2. mark me down as interested but check back about September 25 lol
Oct 12 is not a Sunday. But Nov 12th is. As is this Sunday and March 12th, which begs the question how a 2 or a 3 is typoed as a 10?? Or the real sicko option is that @kriley13 meant to put 11/12
Ohhh typo boys. I meant tomorrow, Sunday 2/12. I was typing with my 3 year old hitting the computer trying to get it done. 9:50am 2/12 Super Bowl day.
All booked up for tomorrow. I’ll send out the correct date next time. Have a good SB weekend everyone.
Obviously he meant 2. 10 in binary. Honest mistake.
Wound up with the day off on Friday.
Would anyone want to get out at Baylands that morning? I just grabbed a 9:10 am spot for two, but will be playing as a solo.
Non-golf question: coming up for the US Women’s Open and considering going up a couple days early to get in on July 4th. I’m not the biggest July 4th guy but are there any fun things/traditions in the Bay or down in Monterey for the Fourth? Still going back and forth on if to come in early for it and whether to spend a couple days in the City before going down or if we should just fly into SJC.
They do fireworks above the wharf in Monterey which is a cool deal if you like fireworks above the water. Not sure if they do much else more. Grew up there but haven’t been there for the 4th is a little while.
As for San Francisco proper, they will do a firework show off a pier & in Sausilito the night of the 4th usually(have in the past, not sure if they’ve reinstated it since the vid). However, the chances of it being too foggy to see the fireworks in July are probably well above 50%. In my opinion, I wouldn’t say there’s a huge pull to get in early just for the 4th around here, others may differ.
Appreciate the feedback. I like fireworks enough but then alone certainly aren’t a draw. Sounds like I’ll save a day of hotel fees and come up as regularly scheduled the next day.
Hello friends,
Last minute solo work trip to SF materialized and I’ll be around SOMA Thursday - Saturday night before a red-eye home. Looking for any recommendations on food/drink places to explore. I’ve gone through this thread and found A16 as my Italian option (thanks @Brenskiis) but hoping for a dim sum and a more hole-in-the wall seafood recommendation. Open to anything but figured that was a good SF trinity.
Welcome to any other thoughts as well on things to do. Planning on getting a long run in Saturday morning through Golden Gate park and Lake Merced park. Might hit up the Warriors game on Friday (huge day-day guy).
Couple other particulars - no rental, no sticks (),and haven’t been to the bay area before.
Easy dim sum place in the city is Yank Sing. The one on Spear St is a block or two from the ferry building, so you can check that out, too. Maybe grab some ice cream at Humphrey Slocombe.
PPQ Dungeness Island is a good spot for crab that’s a bit out there in the Richmond district. Water bar has dollar oyster happy hour and it’s a cool looking bar, great view, though vibes are quiet.
You obvs gotta go visit our beautiful boy @RBarTod at his spot The Wreck Room. Get that liver nice and firm.
The OG famous dim sum place is closed because of a gas pipe explosion (welcome to sf). It’s called Hong Kong Lounge II. Yank Sing is great and more high end. Harborview Restaurant is also pretty good and has great views of the Ferry Building, also on the fancier side.
If you want hole in the wall Shanghai style dim sum… and my favorite place to eat (I’d eat there every day of my life if I could)… Dumpling Kitchen on Taraval Street. Some highlights: Shanghai style chow main, pan fried pork buns, steamed soup dumplings, steamed bbq pork baos, braised lions head meatballs, pea sprouts with garlic.
Have some ideas for ya! Have to take the kids to school and then work stuff… I’ll get the thoughts together and send you a list with some insights.
Cheers, tod
