Roll Call: Austin/San Antonio

Anyone have any experience out at Flintrock Falls in Lakeway? I’m going to check it out tomorrow with a member from there that I met on my trip to Bandon earlier this summer. I’ll report back on it afterwards but am looking forward to seeing it.

I have played it many times and it is a good layout. Got to make sure to put your drives in the right spots. You can still hit some fairways and be in less than advantageous spots. There are a couple of blind shots that can lead to OB or hazards. Good thing your playing with a member.

I’ve played it a few times. Fun golf course. Pretty standard Austin hills type golf course. Reminds me a lot of Falconhead.

Flint is a great track. Fun holes, good vistas within the Lakeway Hills. Make being on the correct tier a priority. Let the big dog eat!

Super disappointed to not have a view of Hancock from Chateau Relaxo-north Austin.

You are actually staying there? I never knew anyone who did. They did an open house for the neighborhood years ago when they started, but it’s come a long way since then.

Yes, staying for two nights. Unique spot for sure. Personally I’d rather stay at Barton Creek for this kind of skrilla. Very much a Don Draper goes to Texas vibe here. Cocktails are damn good.

I’ve been wondering if they have a view.

I’m curious if they mention the Hancock golf course in any of their marketing or visitor materials. It doesn’t seem to fit the vibe. Of course, neither do their neon signs or the HEB parking lot a stone’s throw away.

I am proposing an ATX Meet Up at Butler in early October. Thursday-Sunday & Texas Football away weekend. (Oct 2 and Oct 9 are away games) I haven’t played Butler but really want to get out there and enjoy it with a willing group.
Drove by it yesterday and got me thinking,
we could caravan the course with some fun CTP and Polly games as well as a possible team format and of course, an Ace Pot. The Ryder Cup highs will be gone and the golf serotonin will be lacking by early October.

Anyone that misses a green takes a shot!

Let’s get Silly Szn started at Butler.

Couldn’t get a reservation for dinner online there for Mrs. Birthday.

We are going to the always steady Odd Duck.

I hear cocktails are good, but food is just okay relative to price.

Enjoy living large!

p.s. I worked at Barton Creek way back when. It is stupid expensive but they have put many many millions into that property. So it is worth a staycation if one is so inclined.

I’m deeply in, and will help organize games. Several of us play out there regularly @imsocrabby @chitwood @jbpayne32 @HellerHighwater @jmg and others that I know I’m missing.

Did a staycation for some family friends BDay back in October. Played Crenshaw and Canyons. Absolutely loved the weekend we had there. Hadn’t been to Barton since the old TLJT, NTPGA Junior Golf Tourney says. Can’t go wrong with Bob’s after golf all day. The resort is the best in the Hill Country in my opinion. You are correct, they keep the riff-raff out at BC. Dubbing it Chateau Relaxo Austin-West.

I’m in.

Love the idea but I’m out that whole week. First weekend is my brother’s member guest in Harlingen, and my wife are spending some time down there with my mom the driving to San Antonio for my daughter’s parents weekend at trinity.

And, as a UT fan I have to clarify. October 9 isn’t an “away” game. And yes I’m being pedantic.

We don’t need your weeks’ itinerary … just say you can’t make it.
