How often do you have to be at work?
They want me on site everyday. Which is completely not needed for the role. Hybrid is going to be a point in our interview.
Going from fully remote to Atlanta traffic will require a solid deal.
Ideal podcast time
Different strokes for different folks, but if you’ve got to be onsite 3+ days a week, I’d have a hard time living north of the city.
West / NW is manageable because you can bypass Atlanta. But I personally wouldn’t recommend a northern suburb if you’re young or single. Find the right neighborhood in Atlanta for you and see what it’s all about.
Married. Kids. Might be the right sacrifice.
If you’re really anti-city, probably not as many here with good info, but peachtree city should be a strong consideration.
There were two wrecks on the way home from the fields today. Took me 2.5 hours to get home. Only upside…got through all the SGS / NLU / Trapdraw pods today.
Peachtree City was initially my area of interest.
Got a wife and dog, single life is over.
Brutal
It once took me surface roads all the home. It was wild driving thru small town Georgia
Ohhhhhhh man.
Peacthree City is calling your name
PTC would be a solid consideration.
I’d give a good thought to something in Atlanta at least for a brief period of time. A year. Maybe two. See if the job sticks. West End. Summerhill. Access to everything and the burbs are always waiting.
You also can drive your golf cart everywhere.
I would agree with Shriver though that taking a little time in the city is great to feel it out.
Id personally choose Smyrna over PTC - especially yall still wanna have nights out and access to good shopping, bars or restaurants. embrace the suck that is 45 minutes commutes.
I’ve made many weekday airport runs and it’s not too bad, opposite traffic for most of it. Smryna really is great as far as access to the northwest attractions, 15-20 mins west midtown and you can be around the city near 285/85 in 30 mins.
Ok. Optimism time… not sure if you are actually working at the airport, potentially, but if you are, I would suggest looking at the rail map for Marta and exploring places to live that have quick and easy access to a Marta station.
Marta will give your life back during commute time. I lived in Grant Park and took Marta to and from Dunwoody every day for a couple years, for instance. That’s an hour and a half sometimes one way by car in rush hour. Marta was a consistent 45 minutes, but I was able to read/watch whatever/do things I couldn’t if I was driving. But you have a lot of great options: Decatur, Candler Park, Inman Park are all great areas; Dunwoody and Sandy Springs; Chamblee and Brookhaven. All offer close by amenities without being in the heart of the city.
Decatur, Candler and Inman stations are easily walkable if you’re in the right location, too. Chamblee seems that way, as well. Plus with this as an option, you can get too and from lots of local events like Atlanta United and Falcons games, Intown neighborhood festivals, etc, fairly simply.
Plenty of options that don’t necessarily feel like your living in the city without having to live in a suburb commuting hellscape.
How was The Fields yesterday? Following on their IG, the construction looks like it’s going to really improve several areas, which is awesome. Is it a construction zone on several holes or still worth traveling down to play it before they finish it up?
It’s great as always. $32 to walk. The only huge difference is 2 and 18. The tee boxes are moved up quite ways. 4 also tees off down below the water instead of up top. 100% still playable.
Super pumped about all the work at The Fields. Its made me addicted to my phone recently.
On another note, I was able to snag 4 passes for Sweetens this Saturday. Just had to stalk the site for a couple weeks, near daily checks, and quickly book when I saw openings. FYI for anyone out there looking to do the same.
Chattanooga CC Friday, Sweetens Saturday. Hoping the rain holds off a bit.
The good ole days
I’m interested in seeing how this method shakes out with the new deposit setup.
My group chat was debating the worst holes in Atlanta public golf, and I wanted a spreadsheet to make it make sense.
If you know what’s the worst, you probably know what’s best. Make some notes & fill out the form!
(It’s like what everyone does after visiting Bandon with their composite fave-18, but it’s Atlanta public golf, instead…)
