I’d second the flying all the way there if it’s not insane. Delta has had some cheap flights to Hilton Head / Savannah lately.
This is the best Atlanta golf recommendation I’ve seen in this thread.
@Gabe1323 Don’t over think it, go with BJGC for 2 nines, or Chastain/Browns Mill for 18. Focus on football and Atlanta for the weekend.
Question…How do you guys pull off 18 at Bobby Jones? Do you have to book two separate tee times? Do you get a discounted rate for another 9?
Book 2 separate tee times
Book twice. 2:12 minutes apart is the minimum I’d do. Sometimes you have to 2:24 or 2:36 if the times aren’t available. It creates a a longer round but you really can’t make it much faster. There is no discount.
I’d also suggest if doing back to back 9s to play to the opposite flag the second 9. Fun way to shake it up imo.
Or go new tees, or new tees & new flag. I enjoy going from like the 7’s tipped out to then playing from the 4’s.
Random question for the ATL peeps. Anyone been out to Road Atlanta? I’m going tomorrow for the first time for the petite le mans race. Taking my dad and 6 year old. Wondering what the scene is like.
Do I bring chairs and sit on a grass hill somewhere, or just plan to sit in the grandstand bleachers on the pit straight or near turn 10? Can I bring in like a backpack / wagon? I don’t see answers to those questions on their FAQ, wondering if someone who has had experience out there can chime in on what the best moves are when attending a race at Road Atlanta.
I’ve been there once for the petit le mans. I sat on spectator hill. Good view of the esses. You can bring chairs and a wagon at least when I went like 7-8 years ago.
It’s pretty laid back. We were able to walk on the front stretch and pit road before the race and then sat in the grandstand at the start. Then we went up to spectator hill to watch.
Thank you so much!
Sorry I’m just seeing this. You might already be there or on your way. Frequent Petit Le Mans spectator.
Infield parking pass is nice to have if you’re willing to spend the extra money. But not necessary. Mainly helpful for when you’re trying to get back towards turns 6 and 7 from the front part of the track. Backpacks are allowed. I mean, you can drive your whole car inside. So if you can, take drinks in a cooler, food, snacks, whatever! Camping chairs are nice to have. A blanket for grass areas.
Spectator Hill is very nice. You can follow action well there because they also have a videoboard. Definitely can park it there for a while. Spend some time at Turns 10A/10B, lots of battles. If you don’t have much experience with IMSA, read this quick bit for understanding what the colors mean: WeatherTech: The Classes | IMSA
Little bit of a “hack”, but once you get to about 2 hours left into the race, you can get into just about any hospitality tent. Also, 6 year old may want some ear protection.
Hoping I can get out there next year with a buddy’s Sprinter Van camper. All will be welcome!
Thanks, DawgLeg. We were on-site when you posted this, but every bit of it was true and makes complete sense. I’d never been to a petite le mans race in person. Had a great deal of fun. Did bring in a backpack with food / drinks, parked across the street and rode in on the free shuttle. Hit the esses near turn 2 and 3, watched the start on the main straight, and went over to turn 10 area for a long while, too. Good stuff, and definitely will be back.
Just booked a pass at Sweetens Cove for this Sunday. Website says there are 9 passes left for the day if anyone wants to join
I’ve got 2 tickets for both NLDS games this week if anyone is interested. Section 145 over the visitors bullpen. Thanks to the day games I won’t be able to go.
Always good to finally connect with internet friends for a round in person. @tombudsman is good people and a fierce competitor - can’t wait for a rematch.
Let’s do it again soon!

I am from Philly and coming down to visit my buddy in ATL in March. We are definitely going to play Echelon - any other public or semi-privates we should try and hit on day 2?
Echelon is a great choice. Are you staying up in Alpharetta? What distance are you willing to travel?
