Roll Call: Atlanta - Players Ball 12/13 - Campout 3/15 - Stankonia 6/7

What’s up with this on the Fields? I had heard of greatly improved conditions and therefore: I am planning to go in the next month of so. It is 2 hours so I want to know if it is in good condition. TIA

The Fields is an absolute gem, @golfingossett is just a sourpuss

Live in Acworth and play a lot at Cobblestone. Gets a TON of play, but one of the more interesting tracks I’ve ever played. Very memorable holes on both sides, but especially the back 9 (10, 11, 12, 13 are my favorites). Brookstone, Cartersville CC, Pinetree CC are great private tracks if you know someone.

Next month or so it should be solid. Get there early, and play 36!

Monday is play all day for $35 I think.

It’s a good deal. I just hate it. I can’t score there and I got chased by the duck that guards the 10th hole. I think his name was Frank. It’s just not worth the two hour drive to me

Plenty of similar options on the north side.

@4PuttLegend love you too buddy

greens look really good based on what they’re showing on instagram. just did their summer aeration so end of july early august should be in prime condition.

I also feel this way. Not to the point I won’t drive to play there but in ~10 rounds playing there I think I’ve broken 80 once which is my general barometer for good day vs not good day. A maddening course that isn’t very long and just messes with my brain when I play it.

I need to hear more about Frank the Duck. I wonder if he’s related to Howard.

You don’t like 215 yard Par 3s, uphill, into the wind?!

I think the challenge with scoring here is 100% the green complexes. Greens are small, and if you arn’t below the hole - you typically have a huge breaking putt that is fast af.

I dislike the forced draw, 140 yard par 3 with water right far more.

I can feel like I’m hitting the ball well there, and somewhere between holes 3 and 8 I’ve got a least 2 doubles waiting for me and another bogey or two and I’m standing on the 10th tee 7-over wondering what I’m doing wrong.

I love the fields but holes 3, 4, 10, 11 (especially 11) are not good holes

What makes 11 great – is it because it’s the worst?

Is it because a cart-path OB-ejector three yards long of the green is sick?

I don’t think I’ve ever played it when it hasn’t been suffering from some kind of gotta-fix-it-and-make-it-better construction around the lake & green.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who’s experienced this fate

The less I think about the Fields, the more I like it. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

I do like it though and I wish I could play it tomorrow and turn the tables.

Never experienced it, but everyone I’ve played with sure has!

That’s why I just slice it into 12 fairway. Never even though about the cart path.

Boo you guys…

Hit a good tee shot and get in position for a narrow green which requires distance control.!

Have you guys considered not hitting onto the cart path?
