Roll Call: Atlanta - Campout 3/15 - Stankonia 6/7

cobblestone might have a short game area that big? it’s about 40 minutes north of Atlanta.

That place looks sweet too! I just want somewhere to work on the game in March. Might need to go further south it seems.

Echelon has a good practice area and solid short game part to their range. Don’t know if they okay daily practice as a non member. It’s semi private

good call on that. and they do have a decent sized short game area.

yeah this is the type of place I was thinking of. I think you can do what you want when you’re there with a tee time. But being semi-public probably doesn’t mean you can show up and pay to hit range balls.

True just know the short game area at Charlie Yates is across the street. I feel that most people that hit balls at the range are completely unaware of the practice area. The driving range is packed but only one or two people on the practice area? Everyone at the driving range must only hit fairways and greens.

I tried, you can’t :grimacing:

Welcome. What’s more important golf / being in town? If in town, the previous recommendations are spot on. If golf is more important, I would look at Bears Best - really good practice facility and may allow a temp membership (have to talk to them).

If you don’t mind being northwest… BridgeMill. Two practice putting greens, chipping green with two practice bunkers, large driving range and a golf academy with lessons & trackman.

Also, apparently a huge benefit of being near Bridgemill is you can walk around the Publix with upside down pineapples to get into the swinger scene up there. There is no proof to this, but I feel it needs to be mentioned as it is a fantastic story about the area.

I’ve been trying for 17 years but apparently all that ended before I moved here.

This only works in Johns Creek bro. But srsly I have heard some second hand stories about this working. Probably an early 2000s thing.

I heard about it a few weeks back and can’t stop laughing at the image of people walking around Publix peeping on the pineapples in other peoples carts.

I think there was something to this in the 90’s and early 2000’s before we moved here. I heard there was a segment about it on the Oprah show, which blew it way out of proportion and may have been entirely fictional to start with. Salacious rumors always last a long time.

I will definitely confirm that there is a swinger presence in many north Atlanta suburbs. Just gotta know the right people.
When I joined Indian Hills I really thought I might get a glimpse of it but there hasn’t been any and I haven’t heard any stories. Even from the drunkest, skeeziest members :unamused:

My group is calling it. Looks like we are done with Laurel Springs. Three 5* recruits ready to take official visits as a package deal. Planned visits:

GCoG (AAC size initiation?)
CCS (not as high on this course as my boys)
St. Ives (no clue)
Rivermont (very high on this course)
Standard Club (closest to house, like the course)

If anybody has a strong take for or against any of these please share here or DM. Thx!

My thoughts…

  • Rivermont is a great option but I think there’s a waitlist now.
  • I would be interested to hear what St Ives/GCoG/Std are charging for initiation these days.
  • Did GCoG split from Horseshoe Bend?
  • How are the financials looking at Std Club?

GCoG is out for us. $20k initiation and $800/month dues. That would make more sense when my kids are out of the house and I play 4 days a week.
Rivermont I think is wait list for the categories under age of 40.

Check with Horseshoe Bend and Berkeley Hills.
