@HibernatingBear I really appreciate all the hard work you put into this, especially considering how difficult RS has been. It’s unfortunate that @brutalbaum and team New Dads has to win

My team: let me know if you have a preferred format (fourball vs. singles match), would rather go out in an earlier or later tee time, anyone on the team you’d like to be paired with, etc. I’ll do my best to accommodate.

I’m game for any format although I like 4 ball.
The earlier I can go out the better.

Thanks for handling this, looking forward to bringing home a win. Prefer earlier tee time but no preferred format. Happy to lend my relatively high handicap to a fourball pairing

DM me, peeps. We don’t need @HibernatingBear to get a head start on strategizing!

Feel like we should on the zoom tomorrow night have a Ryder Cup drawing style for the matchups to get a little strategy involved in it

Looking forward to next weekend.

Funny you mention, tonight at 9pm on Zoom! Tune in

Further to Dan’s post with pairings, below are the details regarding format, payout and post round activities.

We will have a table stationed near the putting green/pro shop. After paying your greens fees please come to the table to check in, get your official scorecard and your tee gifts.

Formats
Team Matches:
6 fourball (aka 2v2 best ball) matches starting at 11am
10 singles matches starting at noon
Total of 16 points to be awarded

This is for bragging rights… and maybe a trophy (TBD)

Individual:
Quota System - Each player will be awarded a quota which is equal to 36 minus your handicap (i.e. if you are a 15 handicap your quota will be 21). All scoring during the round is based on GROSS stableford points, per below table. Using the above example, if the player has a total of 24 gross stableford points his score will be +3. The player with the best score relative to his quota will win the RACDG NYC Metro Sheep. Top 3 Quota winners will be paid out plus the top overall gross winner. Tiebreakers will be best back 9 (net) and if further tiebreakers are needed it would be best back 6 and best back 3 (all net)

Scoring System:
Gross Double Eagle - 5
Gross Eagle - 4
Gross Birdie - 3
Gross Par - 2
Gross Bogey - 1
Gross Double Bogey (or worse) - 0

Additionally, we will have closest to the pin on all par 3s and longest drive will be on 13.

Payout Structure:
Quota:
First - $125 NLU Pro Shop Credit + $75 + the RACDG NYC Metro Sheep!
Second - $75 NLU Pro Shop Credit + $50
Third - $25 NLU Pro Shop Credit + $40

Low Gross - $75

CTP - $40 per hole
Long Drive - $40

Post round: For those interested, we will be going to Shillelagh Club (https://shillelaghclub.com/ … not a great website) where we have reserved the outside tent and have been told we can bring food from outside, as they have a very limited menu at this time. So we’ll be ordering pizza from the famous Star Tavern.

Please make sure to preserve COVID protocols by wearing masks when necessary and following the guidelines set out by the course.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if I missed anything. Look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!

Your Captain,
@HibernatingBear

Due to some late injury news we promoted someone from the minors and had to make several changes. I believe those that have had changes made have been informed by their captains but please review and make sure you know when you’re teeing off. Any questions, please reach out.

Thank you to all that joined this past Saturday! Considering it was our first large event, I would say things went very smoothly. The only thing that didn’t go as planned was the result of the team competition was 9.5 to 6.5 with Team @brutalbaum taking home the win over your truly.

In the individual competition, @waukamp89 shot a +7 quota (73 gross) to take the home the Sheep and other s Champion Golfer of the Year! @Zwiggyz and @Tommo rounded out the top 3 only 2 points behind.

The real winner of the day may have been Star Tavern and their pizza. Pretty sure all 10 pies were gone in less than 5 minutes. Savages!!

Below are some pictures and we have someone working on a video that I’ll post here when done.

Thanks again to all that came out and look forward to more great events in 2021 and beyond. We’ll keep everyone posted in the Roll Call: NYC Metro chat but here’s a shameless plug to join our (very active) Whats App chat and be more involved in what the future brings
