I’d play either, prefer PH. I’m not sure there’s going to be any times. Any luck?

Has anyone ever played The Bucks Club (Not to be confused with the real TBC) in Jamison, PA? Is it worth adding to the rotation?

Gave up my membership last year so I will be trying to hit a few public courses all around the area I haven’t played before. If Cobbs Creek worthy of a trip?

Cobb’s Creek is definitely worth a visit. It’s really rough around the edges, but it’d be well worth it to see prior to the Hanse resto-vation. It’s got some really amazing holes. On a purely dollars to quality basis, Jeffersonville is better at the moment, I’d say. However, if Cobb’s gets done right I honestly think it’ll be one of the better public courses in the US.

Just played Cobb’s Creek on Thursday and the more I play it, the more I see its potential. swade is right, once it gets a renovation I think it’ll be awesome. Unfortunately the conditions are pretty bad, there are lots of overhanging trees and the grass leaves a lot to be desired. (It’s also $30 to walk, which you can’t beat anywhere for a full-ish length golf course) If you’re going now you have to go in with the mindset that you’re exploring a historical gem, not playing an actual quality golf course. Be happy that it’s a city course where you can hit a lot of different shots (and even bomb a few drivers) and not be so concerned as to where they end up.

I’d add that J’ville is $32 to walk and that includes a complementary 4 putt on 18.

What’s it like out towards Philly right now? I know things were pretty crazy for a few weeks. Have things settled down? I’m in the middle of the state and the “wave” just hit here last week.

Thanks guys, I might try to grab a tee time next weekend then. Going to put Jville and Lulu on my list as well for this summer.

I’m a bad person to speak on this. I haven’t been to work in a few months, I don’t really go anywhere save for the Home Depot (deep in house project SZN). I was keeping close tabs on the countywide cases, but I think I’m suffering from Covid-fatigue.

stay at home order is in place until June 4th. Peak in new cases in Philly was late April but it looks like a slow decline. People are definitely getting restless as the weather gets nicer and golf is a popular outlet.

I have a friend who lives in Coatsville and he wants to play golf this weekend. I’ve been trying to be extra careful, but I’m also getting tired of sitting at home. I really don’t know what to do. I know golf is allowed, but I also don’t want to sit at home being careful for 6 weeks just to go out to a busy course. And having kids changes things a bit. It’s more difficult to explain why they can’t go play with a friend, but I can go play golf with a friend.

I live in Manayunk too and I’m up at Old York Road, it’s maybe 25 minute drive max and semi on my way home from work. If you ever want to check it out let me know.

Alright I got a 2:12 tomorrow at Cobbs Creek Olde. First time playing it, any words of wisdom? Been doing a deep dive of its history and the ongoing project/future restoration.

Try to ignore the conditioning and just see the holes. I don’t think there’s a driver hole until 7. After 5 the course definitely falls off,due to losing the original routing in WW2, that’s not to say that there aren’t fun holes in there. 16-17-18 are a great close. There’s a lost tee box from way back that they found on 17 atop the hill:

If you get a chance, hit one from up there too. Have fun, I hope you like it. The bones are there, but with the way it’s been treated over the last 60 plus years, you have to squint to see it right now.

I love how hard you ride for CC. It really is going to be incredible if/when the reno happens

Yeah I played it once last year, had a pretty enjoyable day there. Give it a shot!

Cobbs has a very special spot in my heart. Really riding hard for the restoration project as well.

We should do a philly refuge meet up there. Bring some tailgate chairs, a cooler, and take out Picas right down the road to consume in the lot… would be an A+ Philly strapped gathering

How’s the Karakung Course? I’m thinking about playing there tomorrow. Really only one of the places I can find a tee time for a single.
