So far the only super early AM course I’ve found for a pre work round if I’m starting my workday a little behind. Just found out today that they don’t offer 9 hole rounds.
Anyone know of any courses open at 6:00am or earlier that have 9 hole rounds that I won’t see on Supreme Golf/GolfNow?
I was golfing with a friend this past weekend, a true Mike Keiser acolyte and devotee. He mentioned that he had heard/read a year or two ago that there was potentially a South Jersey project coming. I excitedly googled, but all I could find is the following casual mention.
Does anyone know anything about this (hopefully not) pipe dream of a Keiser wonderland in our backyard?
I am. Making the trek out from Lancaster. Never played RG. Looking forward to it. My buddies trip later this summer fell apart due to a broken leg of the guy who set it up, so it was kind of a last minute impulse decision to sign up for “The Cheesesteak”. I tee off on 18 in the morning. Anything I should know about RG? I’m getting a caddie for the morning round so that will be helpful. Hopefully the weather cooperates. I really can’t wait for TFE event at LCC this fall. Haven’t been out there in 3 years. That place is special.
Played RG in may at the Tom Coyne event and the greens were TURNED UP - the name rolling green was very true. The green especially on 9 was comical. Everyone in our foursome degreened the ball at least once there.
Lots of false fronts as well (they have their own beer for them too - false front IPA).
Caddy is a good move. I used my trolley and it was a tiring push, lots of elevation changes that I think would have been easier carrying instead of pushing.
Had a great time getting completely beaten up by the course.
Man kind of bummed because I had no clue that event was happening and I was on vacation last week so no real chance I could swing it. Sounds like ton of fun though.
Cosign the greens being turned up! #9 was wild at the Coyne event. #8 was no picnic either (my groups starting hole!). Make sure you get at least hole high or past or risk having the ball coming down 70yards of false frontage probably the most severe on property
RG is a treat though, second shot course that you need to be ball striking your iron approaches or it exposes you quickly. In that respect it kind of reminds you of what is seen at Flynn’s masterpiece Shinnecock (albeit in a different setting with less prevailing wind).
I personally like them; sight lines great extended & the turf conditions the other week were the best I’ve ever played there going back 8 years or so.
There are still enough out there that can impede the occasional wayward shot & to me the primary defense is the approach to the green & surrounds along with glass greens with a lot of pitch / slopes which I think are more than enough defense for day to day play.
Fantastic golf course, I haven’t been fortunate enough to get out there since the renovation but I have a few tips. The course is long but the rough makes it so much longer so being conservative off of the tee and picking the right side of fairway is paramount. The caddie will be an excellent resource on the greens which are tricky but fair. It might have the best collection of par 3s in the area (play it short on #10) so you are in for a real treat!
I’m cross-posting this here as well as the SE PA/NJ thread:
Hey guis, anyone interested in filling out a foursome of Nesticles? @yungloudancolin, @7evanUP, and I are planning to be at Jeffersonville the morning of 7/11. Would love to add a fellow Refuge member to make it a mini-meet up.
Tee times are not yet opened for booking, so we’ll see exactly what we get in a few days’ time.
Anyone close to Wilmington that can get down to a salvage yard in New Castle, DE and help me out?
I bought a car that is there with a big cargo box on it and need someone to unlock the box and ship some stuff. You can keep the box if you can get it home…worth about $200. Picture below…will overnight a key. Needs to happen within a week.
I have a tee time at Brookeville Country Club up in Locust Valley area in NY that I bought through a charity auction. Looks like a cool, funky, quirky, old school Raynor from the aerials.
Looking to fill out the 4some. Playing 7/24 at noon.
I grabbed the last 7 AM spot at Mountain View earlier today so tomorrow’s a no go but if you’re down for early mornings I usually try to snag times around then at the Mercers or Mountain View. Late afternoons are usually pretty open as well if you ever want to check any of them out.
