PGA 2K23 Refuge Tour - Info Post #9562 - S24 Begins 11/25

I’ll be curious to see everyone’s thoughts on the revamped career mode. It’s much more in depth than the previous versions which has been refreshing

I think they have something with a lot of potential. I’m just on the first KFT event so not too far in, but I do like the in between tourney interview stuff, makes it feel a little more like I’m an actual player rather than just mindlessly teleporting from event to event. I do want them to expand that aspect, similar to how the F1 games did it. If you say the wrong things maybe it affects you negatively, and as you gain popularity then gallery sizes should increase.

As I get further in, I’ll be curious to see if they pulled PGA Tour player bio photos to show alongside leaderboards. I remember in 23 it was just a generic silhouette of a player whenever someone was leading who wasn’t “in the game” as a player.

I think I read somewhere you can play practice rounds, which I am actually looking forward to. Maybe not every course, but having a tournament practice area built out where you can do shortgame or range challenges during practice days for extra XP would be cool.

Small cosmetic thing as well, I want golf bag customization. It is kind of amusing seeing my caddie raw dogging my clubs with zero headcovers, but I feel like that’s a sponsorship opportunity that they can give players something to work towards.

Also worth mentioning that I think a great next step is full LPGA integration. It’s good that they have LPGA players represented, but giving the player the option to pursue a career on the LPGA Tour would be really cool. I’m sure there are a lot of sponsorship and licensing hurdles to get through there though.

@Jeff_M A bunch of big designers from TGC are already re-publishing their more popular courses from 2k23 if you want a list of what I’ve seen so you can start digging through courses and designer pages if you haven’t already

EA had that and I figured it was a no brainer for 2K to add that. I’m shocked they didn’t. EA having fully customizable head covers, bags, towels, etc. was a nice little part of the presentation. Having fully customizable clubs with real grip companies and shaft companies would be a nice cosmetic feature as well. Overall I feel like they’ve done a great job with making career feel more real with having your agent pitch you on different things as well as interviews and sponsors. As I get deeper into it it’ll be interesting to see how the idea of the PIP plays out in game since that’s the basis for the follower goals. The increase to swing difficulty and mechanics also adds to the realism when you’re facing tough shots down the stretch and you have to hit a draw but you haven’t hit one all day.

Yeah I’d take a look! I’m gonna grind my career for a bit to try to get stuff leveled up and unlocked, but certainly will be looking at custom courses this weekend.

I’ve yet to have this luck, every ball that has gone towards a crowd has seemed to have gone straight through people for me.

How about PGA TOUR HQ instead?

The shot setup feedback being on Fade is provocative. That is going to screw with me bigtime

We’re testing it out. Personally, it still stays for long enough and I want the extra XP boost. But if the overall sentiment is to leave it, I may change that option to be open.

This is not at you, I just don’t really understand it as a setting in general (like why it exists). Feel like it incentivizes just hitting every shot within five seconds of the screen popping up, otherwise you lose any visual cue for swing path or timing

I hear you. I guess it’s an added challenge just for the sake of an added challenge, honestly the only reason I use it is because TGCTours is sure to have it that way, and it’s a small XP multiplier bump.

Please continue to send in feedback on the test settings though, I want to make sure we’re being challenging but still fun and not making things difficult that don’t need to be.

Mind your toes

I’m gonna play 4 rounds of Q-School and see where that gets me before I dive into the test event. I shot +1 in just a local match at Yoho River for my first round with the settings, but with no ratings and fittings of course. I will try to give the setup feedback a chance, but I especially hate that it is just fully gone when its gone for putting, can’t hit L1 to see it again or anything

Wait until you get the Spinner + Pick. OP AF

I have a feeling HB is going to tune some of the specialty shots to make them more realistic, or more difficult to pull off properly.

Rumor is a lot of it is getting addressed on release day patch

I use a PS controller on PC, when I hit triangle to do the scout camera, my shot setup meter comes back. Curious if it’s somehow different on different systems?

I simply did not know this information. But this makes me even more confused about why the setting exists in the first place? But if I can just hit triangle real quick right before I’m ready to take it back then I guess sure?

Is the other main difference the initial trajectory line not being displayed? I don’t care about it generally but for some of the fantasy courses having to guess if a club will go over or under something might get interesting

I believe the traj line is Pro Vision: Trajectory. I have this switched off with the other Pro Vision options
