My initial thoughts on the full game with difficulty settings around what they are is that this game is way harder than the previous addition. I went from shooting -6 to -10 with relative ease to shooting 91 - 84 in my first two rounds at sawgrass. Having to swing at an angle on every shot is a huge adjustment on Xbox. The putting speeds are tough and with relatively few upgrades early on the misses are massive. It’ll be interesting to see how much of a difference the fittings and skill increases make.
Chipping feels impossible with this swing plane. At least on full shots you can adjust your setup enough that it gets close to straight. Another thing is remembering to go back to straight through once you get on the green or else I start missing putts real bad lol
I will say one of the big things I’m just now realizing is that rhythm no longer affects direction but is a power adjustment instead is very weird to adjust to. Fast rhythms had me putting off the green uphill which is frustrating
Once you get around 80 overall, and dump points into contact/swing path/correction, game gets WAY easier.
Respawn is going to be putting out a lot of useful content for getting started in the game, highly recommend if there are things you’re unsure about
I’ve heard talk about TGCTours going all the way up to Legend difficulty, right now I am leaning towards Pro for our Tour in an effort to be more inclusive. No matter what, the guys who are freaks at the game are gonna be good. I’ll have to level up my character a bit and over the next week probably get some test events going in the society with the Pro settings and see how scores fall.
I realized I hadn’t applied any of my skill points either which expanding the sweet spots is a big help
I did the same thing in 2k23, had like 50 skill points to apply before I realized it was a thing
2k25 has an interesting skill progression. There’s the attribute points which are things like rhythm and swing path etc. but they all have counter balancing skills so if you increase one it lowers the maximum for the other. Then it has skill trees for each particular type of shot which adds boosts and unlocks new swing types. It’s been pretty good so far to see how those work together
I absolutely love that they took the time to model the global home at Sawgrass. It’s not on the course and was absolutely not necessary to do
Lidar courses are likely going to fewer and farther between going forward, until such a time that Chad or someone else finds a way to change how ChadsTool imports Lidar data and applies it to 2k25 course
It currently applied a “potato chip” affect to courses that are imported with the “legacy Import” feature.
But if you manually import the file (via moving the file between folders on PC, it avoids, this, but also you don’t get the much-higher-resolution course, or the new Bunker feature, but its look normal again. Not sure how they’ll look post-publish though.
Good to know! Bummer, but there were always going to be growing pains with the transition.
Another interesting update to note, the crowds are more interactive now. I learned this when a stray drive baked off a lady’s ribs and back into the fairway
Preseason tournament this week for the preorderers a la Hero world challenge?
is it scummy to use fans as a backstop? In the old tiger woods games i would do that all the time
As long as you sign a glove for them I think it’s all good
For sure! I can get something set up now, I’ll just use one of the official courses to make it simple. Here are the difficulty settings I currently have, and also consumable golf balls prohibited.
I’ll set this one to run for a week, then another event will start on 2/28 when the official launch is
Has anyone had the issue of a bunker being laid down when you put the end way point on a hole? I’ve got this issue on like 1/3 of the holes I’m making
check the auto-gen options, you might have a “1” in the bunker settings and then since your auto-gen green size is zero, it’s putting 'next to" a green that doesn’t exist
I am fully addicted.
