It’s awful and beautiful at the same time my friend
After about a 3 days I was pretty much back to where I was in 2k21. It’s definitely hard to get accustomed to but it’s not as bad as it seemed at first
Is test event 2 closed?
Probably closed in the game society, but settings are up in the spreadsheet if you want to play rounds on your own.
I only see a few scores posted from the test events but based on those and my own experience learning the new game, I think I’m happy with the settings. It took me a couple days of playing but I’m finding the new rhythm with the swing, club fittings definitely help too.
We’re still developing the new season’s spreadsheet/scoring/formulas so I’ll put another couple practice events up later tonight for this week. TGCTours hasn’t opened their 2K23 course database yet either so I’m also going to spend time going through their forums to find newly published courses we can play.
I’ve gone down to easier settings (pro, 1.70x) but I have to say, turning the swing meter off (putting only) has been a game changer. If you are still struggling, I’d say turn it off and play a few rounds to get a feel for it and see if it’s the fix you are looking for.
Now granted, once I get into society settings, I’ll likely bitch and moan and complain here but what else would you expect?
I would expect nothing else.
I’m being pretty stingy with them (only upgrading if I feel like it would help, not filling every slot, waiting for higher level fitting on most) but my timing stat on my driver is currently like 97/100 and pretty high on all my irons too.
Lack of power kinda sucks on the par 5s, not a lot of eagle chances, but hitting fairways consistently feels pretty good.
I’m going the same route, I’m not as far along on the progression of unlocks but I am putting it towards timing when possible. The aviator golf ball is able to make up for lack of distance quite easily, luckily I have been gifted a few of those from leveling up
Got another test event set up, this is a course we played as an exhibition at the end of last season so those players who were here might have some sense of comparison. Unfortunately I don’t have scores from previous but maybe some familiarity will help. Hopefully in the coming days more previously played courses will get ported over/published.
My guess is that there will be a patch at some point to ease some of the less than perfect swings. I am playing on a 1.70 difficulty as a whole. Not sure where everyone else is. I’ll try to play this test event. Been grinding a little to unlock clubs and fits which I’m only using on tempo.
PS4 Players: Posting Test Event #3 now.
Biggest pet peeves so far are that I can’t buy different sets of clubs with differing performance so that I’m stuck with the gapping they give me, and while I kind of like playing with the announcer, they need to fix the bug where after every hole he tells me I’ve moved into the top 5 when I’m actually nowhere near the top five.
It’s amazing that bug has persisted across games, and I’m sure once we get into society play your spot on the leaderboard will never be correct either. I do ultimately really like the game, but as someone who spent several years in QA, it’s maddening to me some of the stupid stuff that gets through and just never gets fixed.
Starting back with TGC2019 I have muted crowd noise and commentary, it makes my experience much more enjoyable.
I mute the birds. Birds aren’t real.
Fittings and ball choice should affect your distances. Getting the gapping perfect requires some balance between timing and power. I find the equipment setup to be far more realistic in this game than in the previous one
I dislike that Mizuno’s aren’t noticeably better than all the other clubs offered. Nothing feels like a Mizuno.
Browsing the pro shop today and in a little upset that there’s no gold boy suit for my player
They don’t have the Ian Poulter gold shirt anymore? I swear there were shiny gold clothes available in the previous game
