Can def dial in logo size/scale. Repeating logos might be tough. Usually that goes to creating the fabric from scratch.
Could we do small words on the right/left breast and large logo on the back of a hoodie?
More expensive option, but yeah we could.
Don’t let my specific desires derail the greater good. Follow your heart Mr. @sundaybag
This is on @kevjones and co. to nail these threads!
@kevjones for McLaren. You know what the right thing to do here is
Heard you loud and clear on yesterday’s Nest pod @MerchCzar
Hey Peoria locals -
Why did Donovan GC get the axe instead of Kellogg? I know the decision was to keep one course in each area of the city but Donovan seems to be on much more interesting land than Kellogg is. I was just in town the past few days and walked through the park with my friends and their dogs. Was it only a par 68 or something? Too short/never in good shape anyway? The front 9 seemed kinda flat and uninspired but that’s like 75% of Kellogg anyway.
I’ll defer to @phegs32 on this one as I have never been a frequent visitor to the Peoria public courses with Lick Creek in my back yard.
I have some fond memories of Donovan as a junior golfer and haven’t played Kellogg since we played conference matches in high school there.
Ahhh Leo Donovan Golf Course… that was my high school’s home course back in the day (98-02). It was a par 70 I believe, though the back 9 was full of short Par 4’s. I was very sad to see it was put out of commission, I had a lot of great memories walking past the 1st tee coming off of the 3rd green with sadness in my eyes as I told my coach I was already 5 over…
I’m thinking we definitely played hs golf against each other. 99-03 here.
I went to Peoria Christian - I was pretty easily the worst golfer on the team every season. We had some studs.
My opinion: Because the Park District was the one that made the decision… Kellogg has the learning center right next door that they have pumped a bunch of money into plus the move to all bent fairways, there was too big of an investment in Kellogg to cut it. With the Junction City and Heights area expanding the land at Donovan was more valuable. There is a restaurant in the clubhouse now too I believe. Was the course I grew up on. Really hated when it closed and was REALLY mad that I wasn’t able to get back to Peoria and go around one more time before it closed.
@JIrish kinda nailed it. That land next to junction is about to get real valuable in the next 10-15 years. Keller Station, Junction City, bike path, new parks/buildings in development… many upgrades on the horizon. Donovan could be an entirely new thread on pros/cons. Plus the GLC was a huge expense… and a pretty good facility to learn and practice. Its not perfect but it checks the boxes. My 5 year old and I kinda wear out that pitch n putt course and the big chipping area.
I won’t be at the event, but I would buy some Merch.
That logo is awesome
4/5 UPDATE
Based on the unanimous outcome of the poll, we’re pushing forward with @sundaybag on the Levelwear event site.
It sounds like we have a bit of creative freedom, so if you have any ideas feel free to put them to paper for us to explore.
I’m sure many of you probably watched last week’s Crash Course episode narrated by @MerchCzar featuring the Copperhead course at Innisbrook. That course was designed by Larry Packard who also designed…drumroll…Lick Creek GC in Pekin, IL!
Our qualifying course does feature a Packard signature double dogleg par 5 (#6). A hole which is known in Central Illinois as one of the toughest you’ll find in the area. However, if you travel in from Florida and play it sight unseen it’s apparently a ho-hum pushover.
DJ saying “A very tight , tight piece of property” has always reminded me of #6 at Lick. That hole was nightmare fuel for a 14 year old Duff who had a two way miss
I had to pause the episode after they played #6 and didn’t even seem remotely phased. Had me reconsidering pretty much everything I believed in.
Entry fee paid & lodging booked; looking forward to my first NLU event. I plan to get into town around midday on Friday. Is anyone interested in playing a practice round Friday afternoon?
I always “heard” that kids went to Peoria Christian, but I never saw anyone claim student or alumni status.
This post is like seeing a magical unicorn. Wild!
[Granted, I have been out of the Peoria scene since HS (also, 02), but still.]
