Olympic Prolific (Tacoma, WA): May 14-16, 2021 - Fog, Sunburns, Presses, Beers, and Golden Chambers

Their head pro, Mitch is awesome.

We did a guys trip down there and played 54 over 2 days. When we went to pay for our second round on Day 1, he just asked “you guys are playing here again tomorrow? this one’s on us. Thanks for coming out.” Never had a course do that for 16 guys before. You’re right it didn’t get as much love, but hard not to have a place like that high on your radar when they take care of you like that.

Honestly, thinking about making the move from May to August or September just to make THC show off better with the fescue grown in and it playing firmer like it does all summer.

Breaking away from the package and adding another round in at Chambers instead of playing at THC might make it too costly, I think.

And, if some people do want to play Chambers again on another day, they can play the day before or after the event.

Still weighing the options right now, though*

*And open to feedback!

I’m a THC-stan, so I’d vote to keep it. (If we get enough players, or shotgun start, maybe we can convince them to modify tee boxes and greens on 11 & 12 for the day…or play it the OG way anyway).

My kids are older so not a deal for me, but for those with school age kids, playing in May might be better timing wise.

I’m date agnostic (except please don’t do it beginning of August, near my wedding anniversary), so if there’s better dates for all the course to show their best, then I’d be in favor of that. And as a non-local, I thought the package was awesome. I loved Chambers, but I think 36 was a pretty good dose of it. I liked how Chambers was sandwiched between the other two as well.

I talked to my people out at Meridian Valley Country Club, and they said it might be a possibility. Maybe a C-Suite Monday round if it doesn’t make the official OP tournament for those who would like to partake in playing the host site the Washington Open and of the infamous Safeco Classic on the LPGA from 1982-1999.

I feel like there’s a lot of people on this thread who will agree with this take:

If we’re lucky, we’ll get a wind delay later as well.

TC has confirmed that NLU Bandon event extravaganza is gonna be in late April in 2022, so seriously considering a move of the 2022 OP to September or October to give it a bunch of room since I’m sure a lot of OP attendees will want to do the Bandon event

A trip to Seattle in the autumn, says you? Fucking in, says I. Nothing better than watching a Seahawks game at my in-laws house.
