Some additional logos from Michigan.
The Mines logo could be really, really good if they fixed the M.
Elite logo. Never seen that, no one ever let me in that pro shop. Yeesh
I honestly need a deep dive into what is going on with the Oakland Hills and Crystal Downs logos. I just never looked at them that closely before. Crystal Downs is wrapped in a what looks like a belt with some sort of wainscoting in the background. Oakland Hills has a pony and a Sunday bag on it with some clubs crossed behind it.
I get most logos that were designed 100 years ago are going to be bad. I just didn’t realize how bad these were.
My favorite of anywhere I’ve ever played is Palmetto Club.
Yeah I have no idea what is going on there. I think CD is trying to go for a tartan pattern within the belt, but why the logo includes a belt, I have no idea. Maybe I should shoot an email to Fred Muller.
No idea what is going on with Oakland Hills either. My best guess is the site was being used as an equestrian ground before there were golf courses there, but it is a bit strange.
Played Sherwood CC in SoCal this wknd and was surprised to see how cool their logo is. The Sherwood name comes from 100+ years ago, when Robin Hood was filmed there, so naturally the logo is an archer.
You mean this pro shop?
Enjoy!
Luckily for my wallet, I definitely a have to visit the course to buy the gear guy.
I share this rule, except I found a shirt at good will with Pine Valley’s member logo on it. What am I not going to buy that?
Belts in the logo’s is pretty common in the UK. Royal Portrush uses the belt along with a number of other prominent golf and non-golf clubs. Have not had time to look into the significance of the belts.
This inspired me to take the golf digest top 15 in SC and consider: does it slap or stink?
I added a few notables at the end.
Golf Digest top courses sc; does the logo slap or stink:
Kiawah:
Slaps.
Congaree:
Stinks.
Yeamans Hall:
Stinks.
Sage Valley:
Stinks.
Secession:
Slaps.
Harbour Town:
Slaps.
Cassique:
Stinks.
Long Cove Club:
Stinks.
Kiawah River Club:
Stinks.
Palmetto:
Slaps.
May River:
Stinks.
Country Club of Charleston:
Slaps.
Colleton River Club:

Old Tabby Links:

Greenville Country Club:

Chechessee Creek Club:

The Cliffs at Mountain Park:
Slaps as the cliffs logo overall but isn’t distinguishable from the other seven cliffs courses. Stinks.
Quixote Club:
Slaps unless there’s no windmill on property.
Musgrove Mill:
Slaps.

Kiawah stinks. Search for any variation of “Oak” named companies/courses and it’s basically the same logo.
tried to take it independently of that, even though its a fairly repeated logo across SC. the orange is distinguishable as soon as you see it
In the SC RIP category:
Best one yet
“Kansas City” was almost named “Possum Trot.” Would be fun to see the alternate history where the Possum Trot Possums were dominating the NFL.
Need to throw Chanticleer’s rooster logo in the “absolutely slaps” category as well.
Nominee: Best logo for a course which doesn’t exist (yet)
Ironically, I very possibly own more TBC merch than that of my home club
