I think you’ve pretty much got it with the dusty road at dawn bit.
This is the first time we have done an open play round instead of assigned pods. So it’s all about just finding someone to play with and having them agree to record the match as part of the tournament.
Got it. I’m pumped! Thanks for putting in the work to organize this, I’m excited to have a good excuse for my wife when I want to spend a day driving across the state just to play golf
p.s. I’ll do my best to leave out the part about publicly disparaging anyone’s name in an effort to instigate an exciting match.
Absolutely not. We’ve had participants from Indiana and PA before.
The only thing I will say is that if you’re playing someone that’s like 50 miles away normally, you can’t earn a travel bonus for meeting them an extra 50 miles from their house. If that makes sense.
That storm was insane. Sorry to hear about the traffic mess. I’m surprised the GPS didn’t take you down the lateral and up 75.
Thanks again for driving to the Sweetens Siege. Having a carpool partner for that was exponentially better than going solo. Also, keep me posted on what I owe for my share of the Accord’s gas!
Back to the topic at hand: @golf4miami do we pay you the $5 or is there a Venmo for OATW? Apologies if I missed that in the original post.
I know for a fact that matches are already taking place. (there have been two in a home and home).
The good news with the new format though is that we’re still not cutting off and creating the elimination bracket until May of 2024. So, even if you’re out for 6-8 weeks you can come back strong next Spring and make a push for the bracket.
Hope whatever you’re dealing with isn’t too serious. It’d be great to see you back out there sooner than later.
Ok, thinking cap on this morning. How bout we further tweak it to be 3 opponents - 10 opponents? That way, you can play up to 10 people, whether you’re playing a single match or a home and home.
This may just be restarting what the limitations already are but in a K.I.S.S. method.
Also, is it a strict limit on your first 10 (whatever) count or play as much as you can and your best 10 count?
First ten count. Need to make people think about who and when they play. Allowing people to play more than 10 matches and then picking which 10 count would cut directly against the reason why we wanted to limit matches in the first place.
ps. @jobu415 I see you lurking in here. #GetInvolved
I’m currently triple booked on Saturdays and my Son has golf matches on Sunday afternoons. Each of my kids is doing 2 fall activities each which makes it tough to get out. I haven’t picked up a club in over a month.
Once things slow down I’m happy to put cases out on all you SW Ohio fools.
