(Not) Strapped: NYC Golf, Food, Magic

This came seemingly out of nowhere and it is the perfect Strapped mini-sode (until they get on the ferry to Liberty National, then the sanctions would have come raining down in buckets).

Really cool to see the little look into Neil’s NYC living, kind of like Randy’s recently with Tron in Denver. All the guys have evolved a ton over the years and it makes sense the content would evolve with them. Would look forward to one of these for each of the NLU members tbh. Since they’re all in different places, except Tron and Soly of course.

The chatting on the rooftop with the skyline in the background is perfect. I feel like if you don’t have a rooftop to see a view like that in NYC, you better go find one. As a Clevelander, I had a rooftop view of our “skyline” for a few years and even that warranted a trip up to hang out and see it once a week.

I lived in Brooklyn from 2000-2004. This was a great watch. Brooklyn is the best.

Excellent piece! As a proud resident, I’m absolutely chuffed that @Randy digs Carroll Gardens.

@MerchCzar Is there any possible way to get some version of Lucas’s hat (the megabill?) into NLU Proshop? That thing had the longest bill I’ve seen on a hat since I watched The Sandlot

Also, this is my car.

@MerchCzar no time to take the big guy to Royal Palms? I would’ve bet a trip here would’ve been in the cards…

Great episode. I know this wasn’t Strapped, but as we age and move away from each other the idea of “oh I’ll come visit and we can golf” could easily be a Strapped-esque concept.

Loved the slice of life aspect to it. While I dig watching the guys and gals and NLU hit golf shots, this was exactly what the doctor ordered. Keep it up!

As an amateur magician, I loved seeing Lucas do his thing. Really nice routines across the board. I do a two-card monte routine, but the 9-everywhere/Q-everywhere was just incredible. A joy to watch.

Just did this exact thing visiting my brother in DC. Played two rounds, had some cold beers, watched some football. Perfect little weekend, didn’t need to pay for hotel rooms and two flights, just one flight and a couple train tickets.

It was good to see my guy @NYC on the video! Shoutout Colorado GC.

That was a fun round with the diner boys and Barry! I’ve lived in NYC for 15 years, currently in Brooklyn Heights, a couple of miles from Neil, and it was a pleasure to show off Marine Park.

Huge shoutout to Matt Golden, the man behind the camera and in the editing bay. He did a great job capturing and curating the vibe with this one, as usual. Also a really great all-around guy https://www.instagram.com/_rmattgolden/

This was such a fun watch. Seeing the guys hang is just such good energy… never been to NYC, and it’s a hard place to imagine. Hope there’s more city episodes to come.

Me seeing you and Barry

Good stuff!

@MerchCzar a friend of mine used to live in Brooklyn and is a bit of a memorable character. Became such a regular at his local watering hole they put a brass nameplate at his spot at the bar. Maybe one for the 2025 goals pod.

Ha no way! Your Titleist bumper sticker was the first thing we all noticed.

Oh, fun fact—the long billed hat Lucas wears is an homage to the movie director, David Lynch

Was gonna mention that and then it slipped my mind after I watched the video. Lucas and I had a nice movie discussion at the NIT.

As men of culture I’m not surprised you noticed. I think it’s from the 90s or 00s because the original ones from the 80s have black lettering and the newer ones were all black and/or have a ball on them. I could be wrong though. Got a handful of them off eBay a few years back. They’re old enough that I needed to superglue this one on since the glue on it went bad. I think I only have one or two left so I can’t have them flying off.

My point is that you guys should throw some weight around at Titleist HQ and get a limited edition run of these bad boys printed.

Very enjoyable watch. Never been to NYC and currently looking at a possible trip in February, this video made me all-in on getting to the Big Apple sooner rather than later.

Adding to the love, really enjoyed watching this.

As a UK person, interesting to see NY and, as a long time follower, also great see the chaps in their natural habitats.

Looks like this could be an appetizer for the main course :eyes:

Really enjoyed this as a NY native – also congrats @NYC on the new roost captainship! Was unaware as my roost involvement took a pause in 2024 with a busy year

Can I suggest coming basically any other month??

Jan/Feb are some miserable months in NY. Jan you might still get some Christmas decorations but, for the most part, pretty dreary here.

With that said, it’s still NYC and there’s always plenty of fun to be had

Ha, last year my wife and I had discussed a Christmas-time trip, didn’t pan out.

This trip would be centered around Duke v Illinois basketball game at MSG, truly only reason for going in February.
