Straight up, I’ve been a lazy POS the last few weeks and making excuses for it. I’ve got six months until my wedding and need to kick it into gear. That said, enjoyed a little Ed Sheeran this morning from the new London studios.
The more I read this thread, the more tempted I am to eventually bite the bullet and get a peloton. I currently have a spin bike with a tablet mount that I use the Peloton app on. I’m just not sure if I can commit to that high of a price and am on the fence on it. Lol
Quick weekly ride update here - thanks @yungloudancolin for the nomination this week.
We’ve got Emma’s 20 Min HIIT Ride from 11/16/20 on deck. Enjoy folks! @ChickPhilA please update the title.
The nice thing about the bike is that you are not loosing out on the investment. You can pretty much turn right around and sell it for nearly full price whenever you want to. At that point it just comes down to the price of the full app.
I think it depends on your source of motivation. I really like the competition and leader board aspect. I like this thread because there is at least one ride a week where I will have a good source of motivation to work out with people that are my same skill level. So the competition makes the entire purchase worth it for me. If you currently find yourself not working out as much as you would like with the current setup then the bike may be the way to go. Now my wife on the other hand pretty much rides just for Cody Rigsby’s humor. In which case you don’t need the bike and full app. Hope this helps.
If you do decide to get the bike here is my referral code for $100 off 6SCQ6F.
Just a note on the referral - it only works against the accessories (shoes, HR strap, etc.) - and then gives the referrer $100 off on apparel. If someone wants to just buy the bike, the referral code won’t work.
Is there a separate hastag for the weekly rides? I know there’s at least one NLURefuge but was thinking if not already setup a “NLURefgueWeekly” or something similar would be cool because it would allow for filtering leaderboard within the weekly ride to see/compete together. I guess the original NLU refuge hashtag works the same way, or maybe this already exists, or maybe I’m just rambling but it was a thought I had and wanted to put out there.
NLURefuge is what we use. I don’t think the other tag would really work because once you’ve taken the ride, whether for the weekly ride or not, you and ALL your tags show up.
It will work on the Bike + Accessories package though right? Pretty sure that we used one and it took.
Yeah as long as Accessories are involved, it works.
Gotcha. I’m a highly competitive person, so I think I might enjoy. I may jump on it sometime in the spring once I have my fiancées engagement ring paid off. A bike also definitely might end up on our wedding registry. I think I’m still gonna start doing the weekly rides, I just won’t be able to post any numbers unless I reactivate whoop and link it to my app.
I managed to get mine using my HSA with a letter of necessity from my doctor. My employer matches $1,000 every year so it was a no brainer. If you can get one that way, I would strongly recommend it.
Another option is the 0% financing through the website. When we got our bike last year we did that and I think it ended out being like $60/month + the $40/month membership fee. We weren’t too crazy about dropping a lump sum either.
Yeah I used the 0% financing too, you can pay it off faster than whatever the financing terms are too so I put a few hundred towards it each month and had it payed off fairly quickly.
So the membership fee is $40/month? I think with the iPad app it is only $12.
Quick question: Do I need to do the FTP test before I do a power zone ride?
I’ve had one for 10 weeks or so now, and I really really enjoy it. One thing that always bothered me with working out at home is that I never felt like I did anything hard, but Peloton will beat your ass. It’s definitely a luxury, but I’m happy with it and get more use out of it than I predicted I would.
No, they’ll give you a way to estimate your zones. And then they’ll tell you to take an FTP test. But you CAN do it without taking an FTP.
Good to know. Was going to get in a 20+ mile road ride tonight, but we are in a thunderstorm warning. Don’t want to get caught outside in the weather.
Right. If you have a Bike or Tread it’s $40. Digital memberships are $12. Why the price discrepancy you may ask. I have no idea other than I know you can create multiple profiles on a full membership for a significant other, family member, etc. My wife and I each have a profile under one membership and my sister does uses ours too but she doesn’t have a Bike or Tread. She just uses it for outdoor walks and yoga I think.
Decided to do an FTP test. Last 5 minutes had be gasping for air.
