Did my first metal ride live, and almost puked. 10/10 will do again
I definitely bookmarked this - any ride with TOOL and RATM has got to be good for getting the legs fired up. I think I like Denis’ taste in music as much as any instructor. I know he’s not for everyone but given that most of my PZ rides are with Wilpers …
Did my first non endurance PZ ride with my new zones (I think) and it was tough sledding. First time in a long time I wondered if I was going to be able to finish the whole ride in my zones but I hung in there. Tomorrow is going to be a LIGHT ride for sure.
I’m sure everyone is waiting on pins and needles for the new weekly ride. I’ll have it up shortly!
OK - new ride is here!
Thanks to @EZmiss for the recommendation of Jess’s 30 Min Sweat Steady from 8/22/20.
@ChickPhilA please updated the title whenever you can. Thanks and enjoy everyone!

Ahhhhhh yes
“Jess King Queen” delivered no good image results. Very disappointed in the internet right now.
This was my first Sam ride and I really liked him, though this one was really tough. I had a hard time keeping up the pace for the last minute or so. I’m going to do the weekly rides in between the Basics program rides.
I keep losing leaderboard position during cool down, do people just keep going hard for the last minute?
My rule of thumb is only go hard during the cool down if I’m close to a PR. Otherwise, I’m all about that cool down minute.
I’m just resigned to the fact that I’m nowhere near in good enough shape to expect to place high. If I’m in the top 66% or so I’m good.
Glad I am not the only one who’s calendar looks like swiss cheese this month!
My goal was to be in the top half when I started. Usually now if I ride well I’m in the top 25% but if I’m in the top third I’m content. And sometimes it just doesn’t happen. Just keep riding and you’ll get better.
Same boat here! A blend of a bit of traveling, more golf and the weather is just too nice to be inside. Not to mention the days are long and the local breweries all have expanded patios these days. Once it gets dark and rainy again I’m sure my Peloton activity will go back up.
For whatever reason, I just decided I wanted a PR when I got on the bike today. Unfortunately I had just eaten a frosting filled cookie sandwich.

and even after that, I still have around 200 calories left over.
Virtual Bike Fit team (Matt wilpers coach and co) are doing an AMA on Reddit.
I’ve already picked up a few good tips in here, linking it below - def worth going back and re-reading whenever they finish.
First off, the cookie sounds delightful. Second of all, you MIGHT want to not push yourself quite so hard if your body reacts that way.
Did I vurp a time or two during the ride? Yes.
Do I regret either the cookie or the output? No.
Took a Sweat Steady Ride yesterday and after looking at your post I realized I did the wrong one.
Not so much scared as unwilling to go back.
Also I’m doing the PZ Pack Challenge and am basically using any rides that aren’t part of that to do Low Impact or milder classes so I don’t kill myself. Exceptions might be made, but not for that lunatic.
I’m a sucker for peer pressure, and you sufficiently taunted me into doing this one.
Jess, and her playlists, are not my jam. But I did appreciate the class structure, in that it’s a totally different training to my usual classes.
K Watters topped me, but a solid output nonetheless.
This is probably a dumb and naive question, but can anybody recommend an instructor with good taste in heavy music/metal? So far I really like the 90s rides I’ve done, but I usually work out to metal and the metal rides I’ve tried so far have been pretty meh to downright bad in terms of playlists.
