NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

I know there are some others in here who are into actual outdoor cycling, what do you use for trip computers that track biometrics, output, and other stuff? I bought one while I was at the bike shop for $60, but it seems a bit expensive for what it offers.

oh, hit 200 rides last night too. output is down a bit, but hoping to restart my regular routines and start improving again.

Really enjoyed this - another great rec! Perfect pre-vacation ride!

Now time to hop a flight to Pawley’s Island to get my teeth kicked in by True Blue and Caledonia! See you guys next week!

Agree, another good Sam ride. He is an underrated instructor, IMO. Really liked the long slow-burn climb in this ride.

didn’t expect that output today. Apparently a couple afternoon Naturday’s give you power.

honestly, that one was TOUGH. not too many rides do I struggle to stay at the top of the resistance ranges. can’t say I’ve done a ride like this before, great recommendation.

That level of output is insane. When you say the top of the resistance ranges … you averaged 61%. There’s no ride I’ve ever taken that doesn’t consider 60-65 the max for short times. So you were well above the resistance ranges for most of the ride, yes?

for the most part yes, but not as much as usual. I was around 5-7 above for most of it, most rides I go for 7-10 above depending on how I feel.

but particularly that last 1min push of 90 cadence I couldn’t maintain and dropped down to the top of the range.

take more rides with Emma, she’ll fairly regularly call out a 60-80 resistance range!

Huge output! I thought I had a decent ride then almost get lapped. Nice ride!

just keep after it and you’ll get there. I started out in the mid 200kj output range with everybody else.

I’ve said it before, being 6’2’’ 190+lbs has it’s advantages - I can lean on those heavy resistances easier than most.

Crushed a few Naturday’s - casually hoped on the Peloton and doubled my output, nice job (I’m retiring)

…and I’m like twice your age.

Well this is a rabbit hole waiting to happen. I mean my bike computer tracks everything possible. Distance, time, temp, elevation, power (cuz i have one on my bike), heart rate. The damn thing even connects to my lights and controls them while i ride. Oh and it connects to a radar device that tells me when cars are approaching from behind. And there’s more. All that cost me 299 i think?

In your shoes, casual, just use a phone app.

so…something in between?

definitely don’t want/need all the things you have. but my phone is in a pouch thingee under my seat and not accessible/visible during a ride. There’s probably phone mount options, but that feels risky?

Most dedicated cycling trackers that use gps are gonna run at least 200.

You could use a fitbit that uses a phone for gps but is worn on your wrist.

Ummmmm.

I think I’m going to do this ride next (when I’m back from NC/TN next week).

Just knocked out ride #1400 and still have not missed a day of Peloton this year.

Also, FWIW, might be my favorite PZ ride ever with a series of 4 minute Z4 and 3 minute Z5 intervals and z1 breaks + awesome playlist.

Inspiring - I went on a two day road trip to pick my kid up from camp with no access to a bike but did full stretching exercises both days to keep my meager streak active. Discovered a 10 minute Full Body Stretch from Adrian Williams that I love (from 3/17/21) and am going to try and do a few times a week if possible. Doing the PZ Pack challenge now but still trying to supplement those with rides in between.

Most days of the week I get a 5/10 minute stretch in first thing…I start the coffee pot, roll the mat out, and when I’m done I pour the coffee. Really helps start the day and keep streaks alive.

That’s a :fire: playlist!!!

No bike this week as I’m on the road. Hoping to have enough will power to at least stretch every day. Your year streak is amazing. I’ve been wildly inconsistent since golf season heated up in April/may.
