No no, I have my zones already reflected. I am talking about what the call out zone you are supposed to be in during the ride (like the cadence/resistance call outs are shown).
I usually have sports on the tv and listening to the music vs what the instructors are yelling at me so if I miss them saying “now let’s increase to zone 5” I have no way of knowing (I think)
I jumped into the next PZP Challenge that starts on Monday. I’m sure I will be miserable by week 3, but I need an external factor to drive consistency. Means to an end if you will…
I think I’ll be mixing in some more Bradley rides in my routine. Been off the bike for the last week with the weather finally turning around so this was a nice welcome back.
I started using this outside website that has power zone class timers that you start at the beginning of the ride. It has a big countdown of how much longer in that particular zone and what zone you should be in.
Works wonders when you don’t want to listen to Wilpers’s music on the long rides. Put your own soundtrack on (or watch tv) and just pay attention to the timer.
Welcome to all the new guis! Feel free to #getinvolved and add any rides to the same sheet as nominations for the following week’s challenge. In a scientific method fitting the ethos of the Refuge I use a random number generator to select the next weeks ride and update the group every Sunday evening. Usually gives us a good mix of ride types and instructors.
Interested to know what people think of Bradley. I took his first class a few weeks back and didn’t like it. Is the cheeky chappy thing a bit or what? Is he still calling riders from the US “Yankie Doodles”? Quite like all the other UK based instructors but he’s not for me.
I used this today and it was a great addition to PowerZone training. Thanks for posting!
Got back on the PZP horse this morning at 6am. I definitely should’ve updated my Zones since I last did the FTP test. Even the basic endurance ride was tough this morning.
Something else: join in and track your monthly minutes here! Add the #NLURefuge hashtag on the bike and you can sort to ride virtually with other Refugees.
I’ve taken one ride with Bradley, just last week’s challenge. He’s for sure a bit goofy if that’s the right word. I thought he was fun and I think for me he’ll be an instructor I choose when I’m not looking to be “coached” and just want a lighter ride. He’s definitely different than the rest of the UK instructors which I imagine is what they were going for.
Fair enough. I’m Canadian but have lived in the UK for 20 years. On that first Bradley ride i kept thinking “if I was American, this guy would really be putting me off with this constant ‘yankie doodles’ stuff” but maybe not?
