NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

The tightness I get isn’t necessarily related to bike/workouts but more the walking/pushing/carrying during golf. I do the hip/hamstring yoga to help prevent those lower back pains

I did a 10 minute stretch class and a 10 minute focus flow yoga both lower body and it felt amazing. I saved the classes and plan to do every night this week and then keep them in the rotation going forward.

my tightness is more related to work and golf than riding the peloton.

Good hard OA ride—it won’t stand up for the week, but I was happy to finish at the top of the leaderboard for the first time ever chasing those NLURefuge tags. Any day I keep up with the folks in their 30s is a great day. Wrapped it up with some Emmacore.

Cleaned up most of the remaining “mastering the basics of cycling” program, just have the 30min boot camp to finish it off. In the classes that I took today was Emma’s Prince 10min crush your core.

I can say that it is as advertised. I don’t consider myself in bad shape, or to have a weak core, but I’m not to that level. I think I may add this program to my rotation next as a few here have vouched for it.

Crush your core is a legit good add to your routine.

Awful. I was waiting for the two climbs she said were going to be involved. 75+ cadence at 60 resistance isn’t a climb. Get out of here with that.

this is in contrast to an Emma 10min climb ride where I ended at 90 resistance/70 cadence.

I recommended this one, haven’t taken it, and won’t take it as I’m on vacation right now with no bike nearby. I am the WORST

Thought it was you that recommended it but was too lazy to go look to call you out specifically.

Unbelievable. Scummy

Been a bit rough on the peloton front.

After missing my long days streak the other week, I then for the first time ever missed a whole week while I was traveling last week.

I did get lots of exercise in as I did two full days of warehouse work moving fabric rolls on/off pallets and then a ton of golf down in TN, but just never opened the app all week. 70 week streak broken Doah!

Easing back in this week. Did a low impact on Monday and this Emma 90s rock ride that featured 2 Radiohead songs.

I had no idea doing the weekly challenge ride would be my 300th so that was pretty cool. Ooof this was a tough ride though. Felt like we were out of the saddle the whole time and I kept waiting for the recovery that never seem to come!

March was a tough month for me with a minor back injury and vacation. I set a goal for April to do a class every day and so far so good. Some days it’s just a quick strength and stretch, some days a walk/run, but trying to drive more consistency.

Golf season is finally here in Upstate NY so definitely doing more stretching classes then ever too.

Will just echo what everyone else had to say - that sucked.

I’ve got this ride planned for tomorrow morning. After reading the comments I’m not going to deny I considered skipping it. HOWEVA I will ride in solidarity (you’re all welcome for my service)

I fully intended doing this weeks OA 30 minute ride, but it didn’t take much for me to detour to this Bradley Rose 20 min 2010 Live Ride this AM as it was starting. It was my first full class with him. He brought lots of positive energy and will try more of his rides. Most importantly, he did the ride he was teaching. Would recommend trying him based on this ride.

Today wasn’t a planned go-for-a-PR Day, but got one anyways. I usually use 20 minute rides for recovery days.

OA ride will have to wait.

If you ever take an FTP test that 20 minute PR will be in your rear view …

I have seen quite a few people (here and elsewhere) say this. Does this really bother people when instructors don’t so this? Is it that easy to notice when they don’t? I am still so new so maybe when I get some more rides I will start to notice and be annoyed by it.

It doesn’t bother me most of the time, but when one of them calls out something egregious in terms of Cadence and resistance so that it’s clear they aren’t doing it because it’s next to impossible, but they are pedaling to make it look like they are or have even said “I’m with you!” it bothers me a little.

I think it bothers most when they full on stop pedaling to “pump you up.” Alex is particularly bad as that.

I just don’t really respond to that kind of motivation at this point in my life. It’s really not that big of deal, it’s just that type of instruction makes me feel like I am back at high school football practice.

I’ve never done an FTP test or Power Zone Training. I started riding the bike rather casually, but gotten more consistent the past year or so.

Have another month before my bike arrives, but did my first full body strength workout yesterday and safe to say my quads feel like boulders right now.
