NLU Peloton Thread - Weekly Ride: 30 minute 2010’s Hip Hop Ride with Ally from 7/25/24

It’s nice when you are new enough to the bike that you can PR almost every time you jump on…

First Ben Alldis ride - I liked it!

I took Bradley’s 20 minute low impact ride yesterday and really enjoyed it. The music wasn’t my personal favorites but really liked his attitude. Super positive, fun, bubbly Brit.

Is it possible to look back on your stats from January to backfill the spreadsheet?

Not easily. You probably have to manually count them. Going forward it’s easier to track

Missing that 9 days for spring break hurt, I didn’t even get above 700 in March.

That PR I set a week ago where I basically experienced muscle failure cost me. I woke up on Sat with back issues. I’m pretty sure the workout did it, as it was a muscular problem with tight hamstrings/glutes restricting mobility. I had a really really difficult time playing golf on the weekend and my back would seize up on the downswing (glutes wouldn’t fire!!!). I tried 10min of stretching + 20 min of yoga both sat/sun, but it was minimally effective.

I’m back to feeling pretty good and did my first full workout (rower+KB+bike) since before spring break and it was definitely a challenge. I could still feel a little tightness, or “stuck” muscle deep in my right hamstring/glute during KB swings, but suffered no ill effects this morning. I have absolutely lost some strength in two weeks however.

So that was a really long way of saying I might not be pushing quite that hard again.

I was pretty cool with my number for the month, especially since I perceived that I was slacking a bit (midterms + good golf weather + start of junior golf season for the kiddies).

I netted 39 rides, which is 4-5 less than normal, but it reminds me that a goal for the year is to work out more holistically—so I’ve kept my daily streak up with lots of
Core, meditation, daily stretching, strength.

Added: I note that four of my “pelobuds” are over 10k for the year and one is within 50 of 15k.

JFC.

My March was abysmal. Partially due to laziness, but mostly because I went on vacation out of town for the first time in over a year.

Gotta put some serious minutes in this month to get back on track. I’m even entertaining the idea of doing another PZP Challenge, as much as I really don’t want to because it gets soooo boring. However, it does hold me accountable to get my rides in.

We are tracking minutes in the spreadsheet, correct? So any type of peloton workout counts, not miles on the bike?

that’s what I’m counting at least.

Correct. Ryan regrets the error.

“Annual minutes.”

Thanks! I was able to download all of my workouts stats from the website.

And all 45/60+ minute rides really rack up the time. Im trying to figure out how to do PZP challenges over the summer and keep up my golf schedule

I was pleasantly suprised with my minutes considering spring break and all. I am like rkris this year: adding other peloton workouts to my rides. Currently on second round of Crush Your Core. And a 10 minute Ben Alldis Full Body Stretch several times a week helps keep the soreness away.

I really like Ben’s 10 minute full body. I’m planning on getting back into it, but I did it a lot in January and I could tell the stretching was really helping me.

I’ve done a number of these, and he’s the best.

For all you Ben Aldis fans out there, I have this 10 minute upper body workout tagged and go back to it very frequently. Perfect class to stack onto a 20 or 30 minute ride, if you want to get some quick upper body work in.

Getting a little better every day. Enjoy the Easter weekend if you celebrate, and if not, enjoy the beautiful spring weather anyway!

Ben Alldis is one of my go-to instructors. Another good class, nice mix of in-saddle speed pushes and out-of-saddle climbs (no sprints). My favorite instructors are those who do the ride with us, not stop and stand to give a story or bark instructions.
