Yeah shes really excited to be so excited about golf. I replaced her starter cart bag with a Jones utility trouper during their big sale. And yesterday she actually mentioned she can finally see how walking would be fun. So that is really exciting for me too, last summer she told me she’d never walk. lol
I don’t know why I’m just seeing this now! This looks really similar to the set I started with…although mine only went up to 7 iron and then had a 6 and 5 hybrid and I paid a bit more. I think this is a good one to get going on. Better than using the old garage sale clubs since weight and length will serve you better. I’m guessing you’ll get a couple of years out of those and then start itching for the upgrade. My starter set was good for a half dozen years of playing fairly casually. Since I started playing way more, I’ve upgraded to a better set and was able to pass along my starter set to my sister-in-law (we’re both lefties!) so hopefully the set will work for getting two ladies into the game!
If you see any good ladies left-handed deals, holler at me. I’m not trying to get my wife into golf yet, but always on the look out in case she changes her mind.
Not for a starter set maybe, but the Callaway pre-owned website might have been an actual steal. I’m pretty sure the clubs I got through there never made if off the show-floor
Looks like the complete Solaire sets on CPO are going for $579 for an 8 piece set right now.
I was able to find a new set of Solaire clubs from a couple years prior, for $300.
When I started seeing some of the higher prices for complete sets, I started looking at “normal” sets. I’d rather get my wife a bag she likes and nicer irons (even if it’s sort of overkill) if it’s basically the same price as a beginner starter set.
Thanks everyone, I did end up ordering the set. Can’t wait to start using them!
Any ladies want in on an Imperial order?
My wife saw all the GFore Pray For Birdies hats last summer and thought they didn’t accurately reflect her game. So she’s wanting to order this.
Imperial item X210p, same hat as the NLU performance hat.
Just trying to find some other folks interested before she pays $63 for a hat. If we can find 6 to order the price drops to $24 a hat.
Use printful instead of imperial and you can do a sample order for way less $
Will do! Similar quality on the hats?
Lesser quality but still good quality
Well how about that. i just text my wife about this and she had already ordered from printful! so, thanks for the reassurance!
Haven’t tried them yet, but saw logoup on instagram. Supposed to be free embroidery and no minimum order.
Hi ladies! Super pumped to have found this group! I’m brand new to golf—I made a golf-obsessed friend at the beginning of the year and ended up watching the Waste Management Open as a result. Then went to the range with a couple of friends. Now I’m hooked, listening to the Shotgun Start podcast and watching past tournaments online. I bought a cheap set of clubs off Amazon and they arrived just in time for the golf courses to shut down, thanks to the COVID pandemic. I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos and recording myself as I hit foam balls against my house to improve my swing. Hopefully I’ll be able to hold my own when the courses open again!
All of this just to say, happy to be among some awesome women who love the game of golf!
Welcome! I can relate to your desire to play. When I got hooked, all I wanted to do was play and practice. I’m lucky that Delaware golf courses are still open. I bought a push cart, as did many of my regular playing partners, and we are playing a lot. We may never go back to carts. I hope everyone can play soon. Stay safe!
Welcome! I feel like we have similar stories I started following pro golf and NLU a few years ago and now I’m trying to learn to play too. Check out @iacas video lessons, they’ve been super helpful for me!
Welcome! You’ll be coming to a meetup in no time! (Post COVID…)
hello fellow Justine (non-Justine Reed division)!
Hey all - Just wanted to quickly share a virtual event I’m hosting at the end of September. It’s a Fore the Ladies Virtual Clinic that will basically act as a Golf 101 class. If you have any friends (any gender welcome!) who want to learn the basics of golf - parts of the course, how to read a scorecard, understand the lingo, equipment and the swing - please feel free to share with them!
Typically my Fore the Ladies intro to golf clinics are in-person, but c’est la vie of these times. Hopefully we’ll be up and running again soon!
