Pssst…We’re in the Nest right? Just between us, this version kicks the shit out of the Thin Lizzy version. (or the Dubliners for that matter)
Released a week ago without me knowing it, but there’s new a Circa Survive EP coming later this month:
2018’s The Amulet had lots of themes of impacts of opioid addiction, and this song was apparently written just before Anthony Green’s heroin overdose and rehab stint. Hopefully he’s doing better. The discussion of AiC earlier today already had me in a certain way - different year, same shit. Keep your head up everyone.
I listened to Juturna an awful lot my sophomore year of college. I haven’t monitored/followed them closely in a long time but like their music. Will have to check this out.
Future Mrs. PTM was driving us up to the We Are Scientists show on the north side of Milwaukee back in maybe 2006. Almost clipped the original drummer with my Oldsmobile as he darted into the crosswalk by Oakland Gyros.
Really, really good show.
I am currently subjecting my children to songs from skateboard videos.
Am I a good parent or a bad parent?
I’m apparently an old man, heard this on Sirius on the way home and now I’m listening to it again
They were so fun. Man the mid 00s had so many fun, interesting bands.
In the spirit of getting involved, anyone remember “You Are Invited” from this record?
I hadn’t heard that song until today. Always good checking out new stuff!
Cold War kids?
Seeing We are Scientists and Japandroids always brings me back to Chronic Future. To be honest, I have never ever run into someone who also shaved a love for them, but Lines in My Face is a fan-freaking-tastic album.
The Dismemberment Plan. I sure do remember them. I think I was a year ahead of their lead singer/guitarist (Travis Morrison) in college.
I communicated with him a few times via email in the late 90s, but I forget why now. I was writing a marketing plan for Kill Rock Stars records as a project for graduate school, but they were on a different label. Maybe I was just asking him for general info on indie rock and figured he might respond because we both went to William and Mary. Anyhow, he seemed like a decent guy.
My daughter saw Modest Mouse tonight, and they did not play this song:
Did the play sunspots in the house of the late scapegoat?
She said the set skewed very new, so my guess is no.
The last time I saw them the set list was extremely new, really sucked if we’re being honest
I had a feeling that would be the case, so I didn’t try to insert myself into the equation.
No suggestion here, but I saw Coldplay last night at the official opening of the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. It was my 4th time but my wife’s first - if anyone is keeping score at home, that is a finally a check in the column of “promises I’ve made to my wife that I’ve actually kept”. It was even better than I expected, playing all the songs I could have hoped for. There was even a tribute to Pearl Jam with a performance of Nothingman, which I know @ChickPhilA would have enjoyed!
