I know my gui @bignanski will appreciate this, but the greatest guitarist of our generation brings the heat with No Such Thing and Heartbreak Warfare on Room for Squares and Battle Studies, respectively.

When I saw the thread header of āBest Album Opener,ā I started debating between Hells Bells, For Those About To Rock, and Highway to Hell. I could be talked into any of thoseā¦but the Back in Black tour was my second concert so Iām a little biased.
Despite surviving the gauntlet of the 128 song bracket and being crowned the Refuge song of the 90āsā¦I donāt see SLTS in hereā¦
Edit it actually is a bad ass opener
Because it always needs to come back to the killers, Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine is a 1st track off a 1st album that is very very very good.
Alright fellow headbangers. I donāt like very many Soilwork songs, but the ones I do like are killer. My favorite song of theirs happens to be an album opener.
I understand the risk Iām taking by making this suggestion, but, in my opinion, Dark Fantasy off of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye West is one of the greatest opening songs to an album of all time.
The way the beginning gradually builds, adding more and more production, then drops into one of the smoothest beats Iāve ever heard really sets the stage for the rest of the album.
What an album
oh shit how could I forget this one
Iāll go on a deep YouTube wormhole watching old Rage live videos but for opening tracks Iāll submit this.
Fantastic opener to a mediocre album. Chanceās verse is an all-timer.
I submit for your viewing and listening pleasure:
So, so good.
Close call but this is my favorite Radiohead opener. That riff gets me every time.
I am spending too much time researching/validating opening songs on albums right now
Also this belongs high on the āfirst song on a debut albumā rankings
In my mind this album opener will not be beat
