The fall off after Acid Rap is very severe.
Childish Gambino has had the career I thought Chance was destined for and vice versa.
I still like most of Coloring Book but Big Day was brutal
The fact that entire crowd is not dancing during the āLet me in Iām tryna fuckā section is disgraceful.
I go back and forth over which Chance song was worse.
That whole set, hell all of the sets, he did at that location were awesome. From the one I posted, the dude in the salmon shorts is digging it the most, heās vibing the entire time.
Watched this one last night were a guy in the crowd brought his brother who just turned 18, Marc asks him what he wants for his birthday, and letās just say the answer/response are amazing.
Iām uh⦠this is definitely something.
just said to my wife āthis guyās gotta be fucking everybody like heās James Brownā.
This guys is a glorious maniac!!
Elaborate?
Alright, that funk one got me.
Iāll preface by saying Iām a fan of both, but Gambinoās early stuff felt more like a goofy, fun side project. Iād be lying if I said I expected him to create some of the most interesting and eclectic music of the last decade. Conversely, after Acid Rap and Surf I was convinced Chance was destined for greatness. Just seemed too unique and talented not to. Coloring Book was fine but not great and Big Day was a dud. Seems like they swapped careers sometime around 2013.
Thatās where I thought you were going but wanted to confirm. Theyāre both kind of in the same bucket for me. Started hot then didnāt do much for me.
āIām gonna tear up the fuckinā dance floor, dude. Check it outā

This is from when he was 16 or so.
Heād been playing up in ND/MN a few years earlier than that. I think I saw him when he was maybe 14 playing at Westward Ho in Grand Forks. Mid-90s.
I saw him playing randomly outside of the Metrodome in like 1996 or 1997? Donāt remember exactly hah
This album definitely does not suck.
When the sun starts to come out and warmth arrives, I listen to this album. March-April every year like clockwork.
