TRL -What a throwback!
TRL + Say What Karaoke used to be some solid afternoon viewing.
Also, if you had told 16 year old me that Carson Daly was going to host a podcast with one of the world’s best golfers I would have thought you were totally insane.

Obviously this is all a matter of opinion but I would listen to “Falling away from me” or “Freak on a leash” over Got the life every time.
I want to clarify, “Got the life” is good. I am not saying it isn’t, I just don’t feel that it is their best.
You remember that @anon3021505 has a sword, right? Might be best to word things even more carefully, my friend.

I don’t know if I could have stated it’s my opinion and nothing more.
@anon3021505 knows I respect him and his opinions on music more than a lot of people. I am just having a discussion.

Battis, you can tell me any of my opinions are trash and I won’t run you thru with my sword. I promise.

This seems like a thing a gui that would run up on him with a sword would say…

This thread sent me down some old jams today and this one holds up. It’s an album closer and has a good vibe to it, but, if you’re familiar with 36CF, probably not the tune you would first think of. Good record though. Dudes voice is a little insane. Hahahaha.

Year of the sea Shanty made me think about this album for the first time in a long time:
Edited: It is on Spotify. It’s a pretty solid double CD worth of shanties performed by a great selection of artists.

First concert I ever saw was System of a Down, Method Man & Redman, and Limp Bizkit at the Peoria Civic Center. We snuck onto the floor and it blew my fucking mind was a 17 year old. Limp Bizkit was to this day the craziest crowd I’ve ever seen at a show. The crowd tore the plywood off the ice (Civic Center is also a minor league hockey arena) and there were girls completely naked surfing around on pieces of plywood. I saw cocaine for the first time that night. Crazy mosh pits. Nuts.
It was shortly after this night that I decided I wanted to be in a band. My Limp Bizkit phase didn’t last but a year or two more after that, but that show made an impression on me to say the least.

This was my introduction to Korn. The shear weirdness of “Twist” was awesome to me. My friend had a PA system in his car and he would pull up to the tourist center in our town and scare the hell out of tourists just blaring it through the PA.

Would love to see some lists from you all! I know it’s an exercise but fun to read what everyone has posted/shared stories and memories associated with them.

Edit: though technically I was still a “teen” freshman and sophomore year of college…hmmmm

No particular order:
The Alt/Rock (My top genres)
- Torches, Foster The People
- The 1975 (Deluxe Album), The 1975
- I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, The 1975 (I was 20. I’m counting it cause it’s my favorite album ever and it HAS to be here because of how much it’s shaped my music taste. Besides, the singles were released when I was 19.)
- Van Halen, Van Halen (Dad played it all the time growing up)
The Pop (The days of the IPod)
- The Fame, Lady Gaga
- One Of The Boys, Katy Perry
- Thriller, Michael Jackson
- Oracular Spectacular, MGMT
The Grunge (Seattle Boi. Was raised on it haha)
- Nevermind, Nirvana
- Ten, Pearl Jam
Also greatly shaped my teen years, but not in my top 10 (honorable mentions, I guess):
- Hozier, Hozier
- Discovery, Daft Punk
- Appetite For Destruction, Guns N’ Roses
- Lindsey Stirling, Lindsey Stirling

Gonna take this challenge.
First off, I’m an old. 13-19 for me covers 84-90. Almost all of these remind me of my cassette Walkman and my half hour walk to and from high school. We had a great alternative radio station in Toronto (CFNY) and my musical tastes were heavily influenced by their selections (as you’ll see below).
- Depeche Mode - Some Great Reward
- REM - Life’s Rich Pageant
- The Smiths - Hatful of Hollow
- Squeeze - Singles - 45’s and other (IMO one of the all time underrated bands)
- 10,000 Maniacs - In My Tribe
- Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen (Two Wheels Good in the US - weird Brit-pop/alt album that is one of my top ten all time)
- Beastie Boys - Licensed to Ill (Paul’s Boutique is my favourite Beasties album but this was the album of 1987 for me and my friends)
- Blue Rodeo - Outskirts
- U2 - The Unforgettable Fire (still my favourite U2 album)
- The Clash - Combat Rock
Probably a bunch I’m forgetting. Also was a big consumer of 12" EPs/Dance Remixes/Imports back in the day.
Edit: okay, we’re in the nest here so I’m going to have to come clean. Probably not in the top ten but not too far off are:
Duran Duran - Seven and the Ragged Tiger
Wham! - Make it Big (slaps… was singing Freedom (but not George Michael’s Freedom) just the other week)
