The Snowman was so good in his Tiny Desk… I just wish the crowd of NPR employees gave him 10% of the energy they had for Juvenile.

Idk how much sleep I’m going to get. Listening to this on repeat. I don’t know if it’s their best album but I could see it become my favorite.

Some mesmerizing songwriting. Half the album feels picked up out of the 70s psych rock scene and plopped down in 2024. A couple of these songs are top 5 MGMT songs for me - “Loss of Life” and “Nothing Changes”

Some unbelievable lyrics too -

You can sail off the edges of the earth
Greet the workers of the universe
Still nothing prepares you for loss of life

At the table, undressing cosmic knots
What remains of disconnected dots
Who knows how the painting will look in the morning
When the day is born and life is ending

Definitely give it a listen!

Fun fact: Father and Son was written from the perspective of a father and son in a Russian family during the Russian revolution, Cat Stevens preparing a musical on that subject at the time.

Eve 6- open road song.
Seriously love this song. I used to turn it up in high school with my blown speakers in my '78 Toyota pick-up. Great for back road driving.

Way late to the party here and stretching the definition of “rock” - but many of Stereolab’s songs have French lyrics

At a metal triple header at a local dive bar. May blow out my eardrums. Forgot ear plugs.

The bass player for the first band (Die Like Bothans) looks like a Shane Lowry clone. Maybe a bit more athletic.

Might be the most metal photo I’ve ever taken.

The lead singer of the last band looks like Madame Maxine from the Potter Verse.

edit: found a video for one of the bands. RHOAR! (my cousin wen to HS with the bass player, that’s why were at the bar to see them)

Gonna take an EXCEPTIONAL album to knock Ari’s new one off AOTY for me. Hit. After hit. After hit. Even the couple that needed go grow on me already have. Can’t think of a pop album I’ve liked front to back in awhile

It’s also so vulnurable and emotional, yet beautifully healing :pinched_fingers:
