UHHH I love Waxahatchee so much!!!
Was listening to Saint Cloud the other day and wondering when weād get new Waxahatchee ā this is lovely and their voices sound great together. Canāt help but expect shredding when I see āfeat. MJ Lendermanā and it was a welcome surprise to hear something a little more subdued. Time to kick off my 2024 playlist!
Iāve been on a deep Weakerthans/John K. Samson kick now that the winter doldrums are kicking in. The Virtute the Cat saga has been hitting me so hard lately.
The Weakerthans were made for this time of the year.
One of my favorite bands. Absolutely love this song/album
New Snacktime music (first studio recordings!) to fuel your funk tank.

I was today years old when I realized that Phoenix is a french band that sings in english. I thought they were an english rock band.
Iām dumb
Also Iām on a french rock music kick so if anyone has any recommendations let me know. This song has been on repeat-
If stoner-adjacent rock like Kyuss is within the spectrum of enjoyment, you might find the French trio Slift interesting. Their second album just dropped a couple of weeks ago.
All I know about Phoenix is the lead singer was married to Sophia Coppola for a minute and they have this great āone-takeā music video
Gojira is French
I should have clarified : Iām trying to find french rock music (lyrics in french), not english rock music by french bands like phoenix. Also not a fan of metal, seems like there have been quite a few more hardcore french bands but thatās not my thing.
There is something very cool about the weird combo of french language + punk rock with a french edgy / artsy spin
Have you listened to FIP radio yet? Not all in French but a good mix of stuff from around the world. Iāll put on the groove or hip hop stations when I want to hear something new.
the guys from Phoenix and the dudes from Daft Punk were in a Punk band together before Phoenix and DP were a thing
Phoenix has a live album from back in the day and the french accent is very strong haha
The only French musician I remember
I went to the Portugal . The Man concert in Tempe on Sunday while visiting family. My brother in law had gotten the tickets so I had no idea Snacktime was the opener until we got there, which was a nice surprise. They were a ton of fun! Almost a little disorienting with how much different each song seemed to be but I really enjoyed the horn focused stuff in particular. Plus they played with Portugal for most of their set too.
Between that and playing at Dobson Ranch I had quite the NLU adjacent vacation
