This video is a total throw back for me, I loved seeing it on MTV and as a bonus he’s wearing an Amani Toomer jersey. I’ll be adding his tracks into my rotation again. RIP
Rented the Courtney Barnett documentary Anonymous Club. Been a minute since I watched a music documentary and I can’t imagine a more personal one than this.
I don’t know if many people know of this band but they have some very good, vibey music. I’m not sure how to classify it? Alt rock I guess?
Love this one:
I know nothing about this band.
My son was watching a soccer video on YouTube that was edited to the song and he has asked me to play it for him.
It’s now become a song I also enjoy
Courtney rules. Also, WPS.
I loved Western Wind but the other singles kinda stunk. However this is great.
I started going back to see if I could find some old local music from back in my high school/college days to see if it holds up. This still fucking rocks!
Just here to remind everyone that Maggie Koerner fucking rocks and is really good Fall music
Saw this question asked in another social platform and had to ask everyone here:
“Who/what band is the millennial’s equivalent of Steely Dan?”
(And no, Steely Dan doesn’t count)
Weezer
My first thought was a post rock band, but idk if any are popular enough to warrant that comparison. Maybe The War on Drugs?
The Killers
Radiohead? No one is going to start out as Steely Dan, they’ve got to become Steely Dan.
Are they Reelin ’in the years?
My mind is focusing too much on the technical aspects of Steely Dan rather than the overall product. Like, if you combined the 2 lead+session band and weird lyrics of The Mars Volta with the 1,000 take recording sessions of Tool, I feel like you’d have something close on the technical side.
I’m just gonna say this right now I like Steely Dan!

This fucking slaps!
Khruangbin maybe? Jazzy, rhythmically tight and melodic.
What about Daft Punk?
