One thing about the Cincinnati thread was that there was only 4-5 weeks from the time it started to the event. I think that actually really helped the momentum of the event. I have had time seeing how having seven months for this thread until the event is going to be helpful. But, I’m happy to be wrong.

Yesterday’s Cincinnati Duel thread was glorious. I could hardly leave it yesterday.
This thread started off hot. It had me ready to go play this weekend in Detroit. Left work and went to a fundraiser. Got out of the fundraiser and saw I had 560 posts to catch up on. Can’t wait to see what went down.
Read those posts and my excitement for this event was severely dampened. Hate to see it.

Yeah, kind of a shame it devolved into that chaos. Sometimes it can be good (pizza in the DTTD thread), sometimes it can be bad. Hopefully we are past it.
With all that said, I think excitement will build as details become more concrete. Keep the faith.

Holy heck! This is what happens when a shite workday comes along!
I know this is probably a mortal sin (well, at least venial), but can I get an overview? How many people were “drafted”? I see the “other” attendees list; is this a list of people planning to just head to Detroit and not play? Play elsewhere at the same time? Is anyone planning any opposite field events either local to the SE or for higher handicappers?
If there is a waitlist, I’d like to get on it.

Now, sleep and coffee require no explanation. It does appear, now that I’ve caught up, that some of you are not enjoying the Refuge for some reason. I did observe some complaints, for example, about noise. While I didn’t notice any, I understand how some of you may have.
Yes, noise does suck, especially in your backswing (I still regret not bringing a vuvuzela to Cinci, Nandy). The Refuge, though, like an elite private club or, let’s be honest, many really interesting fun munis, can be a place where noise does not disturb.
How, you ask?

Dear Refuge,
I don’t yet believe that @Eric_Denver will show his face at an event. But if he indeed does and any of you think that anyone save for me will be the one to dispatch him, you are mistaken. Come see his furrowed brow when he taps in for a 7 after he leaves 2 in a “faux pot bunker”, hear the sweet music of his frustrated expletives as he blames his flubbed chip on the bad mowing lines. Many of you have quarrel with the man, but none that stretches back into the annals of Refuge history like mine.
