Hey everyone, me and my 11 lifetime Refuge posts, all PGA 2K21 related, would like to know if you are still taking sign ups for this? Haven’t played Rackham in quite a few years, would love to check it out. I’d also be interested in a Friday round at UMGC. I could join an existing foursome or arrange another one if needed.
Yes! Post 4375.
Too late on the raffle tickets and the stickers. If you could send me the new glasses logo, I can get that on other “stuff” I’m working on.
I’ll send them to you.
I rented the apartment/room adjacent to this one. I believe this one is still open for those who need a spot.
In all seriousness, with road construction right now I would stay in Southfield before I stayed in Troy.
Anyone have any intel on that Hotel Royal Oak - looks like an old 50# motel redone into something ‘hip’?
Put this on @Lazstradamus gravestone
it’s been a motel my whole life, with many different owners. The newest updates are the nicest it’s ever been by far. so i’d say you are spot on.
Sounds like my kinda place.
I live right by it. It used to be kind of a sleazy joint but they have completely remodeled it and changed the vibe. About 5 minutes drive from Rackham and can walk to downtown Royal Oak. Also a very good breakfast place next door to it. I think it would be ok.
So we are going to have some custom tee-markers made (shoutout @Carlitos), giving us the opportunity to also set up the tees how we want for the event. I haven’t played Rackham in years, so looking for some local knowledge to guide us in the right direction.
- White tees (515 par 5)

- Blue tees (185 par 3)
- Blue tees (420 par 4)

- Blue tees (387 par 4)
- Silver tees (180 par 3)
- White tees (299 par 4)
- Blue tees (448 par 4)
Total - 6,332 yards
On 4 there are trees all along that inside corner that come up pretty fast. If you can get the ball up in a hurry it might be possible, but certainly not for a hack like me. I’ll get out there this weekend and get some pictures.
The rest looks good.
I second JD - IMO #2 and #17 are more likely to be driven than #4
Ok might adjust that one. Also thinking the par 3s need work. Might bump the two on the front 9 up so all par 3s play at different distances (135-150-204-180)
It’s more likely that you could drive 2 or 3 vs. 4. if you move the tees up on 4. i think you’re too blocked. same kind of challenge on 3, but from the blues you can def. cut the corner @jawnnypage does it all the time. 6 is also pretty gettable for longer hitters.
I was about to bail on this because Mrs thruby is extremely not into this idea, but then I saw this:
And vaccinations are running rampant…
5, for a par 3 plays tricky from any of the tee boxes based on the undulations of the green, the position of the green in relation to the front bunkers and how the flag is normally positioned (Usually at the extreme front or back left)
Ediit: Fat fingers, I meant hole 5
I like this idea for the par 3’s. One short, one long, then a couple middle. 4 different clubs would be sweet.
