Maxamania, Rackham GC (Detroit, MI) May 22, 2021

Dropping this in again.

I think you could restore 1-5 on a smaller scale within the new property lines.

lol… water bills… they don’t pay those in Detroit, or “Huntington Woods” in this case

Hey everyone -

We are just over 2 months out from Maxamania. Crazy to think that this thing is a year and a half in the making.

Right now our list of attendees is at 73 people, which is INCREDIBLE. Still plenty of time to sign up or invite friends to come join us.

We have also started to compile some items that will be auctioned/raffled off. @N8dogg2669 has been kind enough to work with a local Metro Detroit company, Winston Collection, to create a variety of headcovers, pouches, and scorecard holders with the Maxamania logos.

If you would like to donate items/experiences or know of some people that would, please reach out and let me know.

I will also be working with @sundaybag to get our merch set up in the coming days. If you have followed along with the March Mudness event, the merch options and process looks incredible. Really excited to see what we will come up with.

Finally, I am looking for some suggestions on what else we can put in place to really take this event over the top rope.

Ideas:

  • Yardage books have been mentioned previously. Looking for anyone with some design talent willing to help out.
  • Event signage and scoring - we have a whole host of logo options to use, so just looking for some support
  • If anyone has some old wrestling stuff (like life size cardboard cut out of Hulk Hogan), let me know
  • Towel run?

Quick edit to what Jbors wrote. We have Driver Head Covers, Putter (mallet and blade) covers, leather drawstring pouches, and a couple flags for everyone to sign and give to the family at the end of the outing. Scorecard holders minimums made it tough for this one, but we have a good variety of stuff to auction/raffle off to make some cash for the fam.

Are there any supplies I can pick up for the event?

Raffle tickets for raffles, a potenital 50/50? , “Hello, My Name is:” name tags? Beer?
If there’s anything outside of what @JBors mentioned above let me know.

I think for beverages we keep in BYO in order to somewhat conspicuously hide it due to the course rules.

If you’d like to be the raffle Czar that would be great. We can do a pre-purchase so it would be nice to have someone write names on them prior to make it efficient. We can do day of purchases as well.

Thoughts for this as a raffle ticket? If there are any suggestions let me know, and I’ll get them going.

A subtle change to the front. I added the date. Ordered.

OK, Name tags? Yay or Nay?

Played Rackham this morning. Get excited, because the greens are playing FIRM! Huge one hops, and roll outs. Not at all like it played in the past. They installed some new drainage all around the course and it seems to be drying it out. Normally this time of year the course is a soupy mess. We could get a bunch of rain in April and it’s another story in May but it was kind of like playing a different Rackham today!

where’s everyone staying (who doesn’t live locally) - looking to book lodging this week but would like to pick a neighborhood where we may be doing “apres golf” activities lol.

royal oak proper? troy? other?

I’m local (like 0.2 miles from the course) but you’ll want Royal Oak, Huntington Woods or Ferndale over Troy.

Agreed. Troy is the same suburb with a bunch of expressways, a nice mall, and chain restaurants found everywhere in the US. Royal Oak and Ferndale have things to do and are very close to Rackham. Huntington Woods is the neighborhood surrounding the course, in-between Ferndale and RO, and is entirely residential. Pleasant ridge is a tiny pocket town sandwiched in as well. All should have short term homes for rent.

Edit to add in Oak Park as well. It’s also quite close.

There’s a bunch of us locally, if there’s a place under consideration you can post (roughly) where it is and we can give you feedback.

Looking good! Make sure you use the new designs, @JBors or I can send em. It’d be a lot cooler if you did
