I’m rioting if @kvv doesn’t do the whole pod as Gary Player

And now we know why it wasn’t TS: South Africa.

The fallout would have been too great for the crew if this explosive expose’ hit the airwaves while they were in-country. Even Sarge couldn’t have kept them safe.

About 2/3 finished and my initial thought

Player is even more crazy than I realized

What a treat @KVV. Excellent content as always. I hope these narrated writing pieces become commonplace.

Planting a seed for Lloyd Mangrum in the future!?!?!

the image of Player not shaking hands because he didn’t want to lose his power is fascinating

I had this image in my mind the whole segment about the 1974 Open. Shades of PReed!!!

:exploding_head: I had no idea gold mines are 10-12 thousand feet deep. That’s riding an old elevator from the top of the Willis (nee Sears) Tower to ground level eight times. More than ten times deeper than most coal mines. #infrastructure

I assumed that was typical Gary Player exaggeration, but apparently not. Wikipedia says the deepest gold mines are over 2 miles deep.

Podcast sounding like This South African Life.

Great pod - and it also delivered the most important words ever recorded on a NLU pod - someone from within NLU admitting that “bits get exhausted”
~10:20

… although the @KVV as Gary Player bit one is one that I wish would go on indefinitely

Yeah, I had no idea.

I need part 2 to go deeper into all the crazy shit just briefly mentioned at the end.

Great content but didn’t see the need for the annoying TAL music and Ira Glass cadence.

Good Morning, Damon!

Just finished listening. As a fan of the Tom Rinaldi/Wright Thompson style essays, this was absolutely fantastic! Very well done, can’t wait for the next one!

I absolutely loved the format and how the information was presented. I was irritated when I arrived at my office and had to wait to finish it until my drive home.

Great work @KVV @justine @djpie

I look forward to similar projects in the future.

I dont know how to explain it, but Gary Player kind of gives me Dabo vibes, as if his success is more impressive/significant because he had to overcome more significant obstacles than the rest of his peers
