I had no idea gold mines are 10-12 thousand feet deep. That’s riding an old elevator from the top of the Willis (nee Sears) Tower to ground level eight times. More than ten times deeper than most coal mines. #infrastructure

I assumed that was typical Gary Player exaggeration, but apparently not. Wikipedia says the deepest gold mines are over 2 miles deep.

I dont know how to explain it, but Gary Player kind of gives me Dabo vibes, as if his success is more impressive/significant because he had to overcome more significant obstacles than the rest of his peers
