Inaugural Old Fashioned: Irish Coffee edition - Tee times and Pairings post 215

1% chance of rain on Nov 3 as of now.

So like… 50/50 shot of torrential downpour.

What I’m learning via this thread is a few things:

  1. I’m a pretty cold blooded dude (temperature wise)
  2. Maybe I’m not quite as much of a sicko as I thought I was
  3. While I knew preparedness is always key (thanks Scouts) there is an extra level I have yet to achieve
  4. Playing golf with Wisconsonites is going to be a fucking blast.

Growing up in NE Wisco and playing HS golf has prepared me for this stuff. I remember one year we were putting out on the last hole through a good half inch of snow (in composition). And also I’m a sicko who will play golf as long as the courses are open.

I remember a match in HS right after I got the first pair of Air Zoom TW’s that came out.

I had picked my “scripting” (although I didn’t call it that back then) based on my shoes, and didn’t notice that the match was in Marinette.

I’m not sure I’ve ever been so cold in my entire life. (And I’ve been to dozens of games at Lambeau in January)

Played HS and college golf then returned to coach HS golf, you just never know what you’re going to get. Bring a variety of gear and be ready for anything.

This was in April many years ago, but I was at a tournament on the Irish with the day @Amholzman24 is hoping for. 40, rain, two club wind off the lake, the first flight of 3 teams walked off the course in protest and there was a huge fight over whether they should be DQ’d or the tournament re scheduled that went all the way up to the WIAA.

This’ill be a walk in the park compared to Second City’s March Mudness in March of last year. I think we teed off in 33 and it peaked at 35.

SHORTS N SHORT SLEEVES!

Once the ground freezes we’re screwed so you can’t let a little nip in the air stop you.

This time of year I keep the tees for simulator golf in the bag at all times.

Can’t get a tee in the ground, no problem!

If you can’t put a tee in the ground, be a real golfer and hit it off the deck. Yes, I’m including driver with that.

It was bright and sunny though, if you’re talking about 2022. 38* felt like 60*.

I think I had to take a layer off at Mudness this year before we even started. War at the Shore 2022 on the other hand was the absolute coldest I’ve ever been on a golf course.

Also, spring sunny and 35 feels way different than fall cloudy and 35 or even fall sunny and 35.

It was 46 and still dark when I walked out of my house this morning and even with only three layers (t-shirt, polo, light QZ) it felt like it would have been pretty bearable.

It’s going to be 77 down here in Dayton on Friday and I’m considering a day off or half day to knock rust off before taking on the Irish.

Nvm. It’s pouring
