That looks phenomenal. I am adding egg + meat in a bowl to the rota next week
Here is the recipe: Ground Beef Bulgogi
My only subs are using lean ground beef (like 96/4) and avocado oil spray instead of oil. Also watch how much rice you put in, adds calories quick. But this is a weekly staple in our house and even my 4.5 year old loves it.
We serve it Bibimbap style with lots of veggies (banchan) plus I have a Bibimbap sauce I got at the Korean market. I’m out of kimchi at the moment but that’s also fantastic.
Just started with Hello Fresh this past week and are doing three meals with them - had the second one last night and love it so far.
Also started back with Whoop last week so very excited for that. Now I just need some warmer weather here in the Philly area and I’ll be set.
FTFY
Big rec from me for Hungry Root. SUPER easy meal’s that have all been very tasty. Has helped me learn some new recipes and get comfortable in the kitchen. Good mix of pre made meals and groceries too
This was a pretty good interview with Adam Devine and his use of MyFitnessPal
tl;dr he loves rotisserie chicken
Great read!!!
My fitness Pal was what I used first. It’s a great app. I didn’t believe that tracking what I ate would make a difference. It made A LOT of difference and like has mentioned above, really opened my eyes up about what I can & cannot eat.
Case in point - POTATOES! They’re so good for you. But also I didn’t need to kill myself to cut all carbs, crash diet.
The apps really help you learn how to eat proper healthy for me as an adult, something I didn’t learn until last year. I’m 45 years old now. Crazy.
“I just want to look like a 50-year-old Pilates mom. That’s my ideal body type right now. That’s a sexy, hot way to look. Just covered in Lululemon and drinking from my Stanley cup.”
So freakin funny
Great read, thanks for sharing!
Brother I feel the exact same. I know I’m making better choices (still not perfect) and I’m kind of stuck where I’m at. Over the last 6ish months I’m down nearly 20 lbs from my high ( still 60 over where I have been) but the last l few months I’ve really cleaned up my eating and calorie intake and haven’t seen the needle move much. I truly do struggle with eating and overeating. I stress it, have unhealthy cravings etc, eat too fast and consume too much… all of it. It’s a work in progress but you’re not alone in the frustrations of it. It’s tough man.
So I’m one week back into being on the weight watchers bandwagon which has worked successfully for me in the past. Obviously when I get off at things fall apart but that’s a whole other issue. And honestly it’s one of these things right now because there’s so many 0 point foods and things of that like I struggled hit the amount of points I’m supposed to eat in a day. Not sure if that’s a positive or a negative.
Mhm, preach brother.
Keep pushing. 1% better everyday. We will break through!
I’ve been reading Atomic Habits and am really vibing with the idea of identity-based habits/changes. I’ve been trying to say less of “I’m trying to lose weight” and more of “I’m an athlete”, then making choices an athlete would make.
My pea brain doesn’t work well enough for WW. For me I do better with a macro type approach but it doesn’t bother me to eat the same thing a lot.
Even though we know it We all gotta remember that weight doesn’t always tell us a good or bad thing. That number will look different for everyone, As we eat better and move more body comp will change and it takes a while
{not scientific advice….just bro science from someone rationalizing his own weight gain while lifting}
That’s good stuff! I just dove into the whoop world and hesitated on it for a little because I felt like an idiot being a fat loser wearing an elite fitness wearable but I feel myself starting at the estimated calories burned, the strain, the steps etc. it’s only been a few days but I’m feeling the mentality I had back when I was in the gym, I was healthier, making better choices etc. all about the mindset!
I was a long time Whoop user (started the NLU group on their nbd lol), and as an also fat loser I found it extremely helpful! I found it pushed me to push myself more when training/playing bball and also to take my sleep more seriously. Glad it’s already working for you!! Make sure to be pretty diligent on the journal feature. That is where the real nuggets of gold show themselves. (oh man, when I have more than two drinks my recovery goes way down, etc)
I switched to an Apple Watch and unfortunately will probably never go back to the whoop, even though I prefer the whoop for fitness tracking/motivation. But I’m addicted to having notifications on my wrist now… womp.
I wear a garmin watch for notifications and am team bicep band lol
Finished first month of 2.5 mg zepbound. doc upd dose to 5mg. Halfway through week five. Energy is good ; medically enhanced lack of appetite, makes “willpower” easy. SW 278 CW 260. Lack of joint ache is noticeable. No loss of strength.
So a revelation for me today with weight watchers, apparently some time in 2024 90%+ lean ground beef is now a zero point food, along with other things like trimmed steaks, pork chops, potatoes. Feels like a trap.
Lean protein is the key to eating better as it makes you feel full. I made 93/7 gringo tacos for me and the kid. 5 tacos. 620 calories, 74g of protein.
Yeah I get it with the lean protein. I’d always been a 99% lean ground turkey on WW. Ground beef was always points, so now it feels like cheating and a trap!
Potatoes?
No chance.
