Yes. His head is incredibly big.
I put together a 53-man roster of who they omitted in the draft and think that this squad would put up a good fight. I asked @MerchCzar for some feedback and he thought I was a little light on the OL and DL - thoughts from others?
Here is the offense, I’ll finish the graphic for the defense, special teams & coaches.
Wyndham being a “nuke-you-lus” guy is the least surprising thing ever. FFS
I clocked that too. Tuff look
I was delighted to hear Neil’s enthusiastic rundown of the Shriners’ financial statements and Soly’s brief lesson on audit materiality.
“I had a $111 million materiality on one of my jobs.”
“Wait, $111 million and not $11 million?”
“$111 million.”
“… fuck.”
Also thought it was interesting Wyndham didn’t mention Spieth or JT by name when discussing who he chatted with about the RC….
hearing @KVV talking about Phil’s dinosaur fossil skull immediately made me think of that’s something RFK Jr. would have
Just made me think of Nic Cage, since I’m pretty sure he has/had one too
Am I the only one who thought that was kindof sweet? like Phil and Amy are maybe just the same kind of weird
It’s kinda cool and also just funny and ridiculous. And now my RFK Jr comp has me picturing Phil talking to him about the health benefits of his coffee and igniting an absurd discussion. They might actually be the same person deep down inside
Oh it’s an extremely cool gift if you’ve got a few million to throw around to, what I assume, are some really shady people. It’s fun to imagine Phil and nic cage, two very different but both very weird people, hanging out and bonding over their love of owning dinosaur skulls
What makes it even more interesting is that he won a bidding war against Leo for it;
I think we can all agree that if any of us had dinosaur skull money we’d blow it on vintage blades, mini drivers, LAB putters, and short shorts
I would blow it on a dinosaur skull
Re: the latest NLU podcast, @Tron asked how many people had played Medinah #3 since it’s so new. They have aggressively hosted raters this year. Golf Digest assigned at least 15 raters to play it this fall. Also, a couple of their members, along with Andy Johnson, arranged a day with a bunch of raters from the various panels, and there had to be 30-40 raters out there that day, which also happened to be easily the hottest day of the year in Chicago (it was brutal) . I actually played it twice this summer since I had set up a rater round before I got invited to the rater day. OCM were all there that day for a post-round Q&A. I will say, it’s really good.
Also, since I’m still listening to this, @Randy, while I miss Dan Lucas as a friend and he’s wonderful at his job, the new Superintendent has arguably had the Kingsley Club in better shape. Could relate to a change in management giving more leeway, but there’s been tree clearing behind the 12th green, left of the 14th green, and along the right side of 15. Changes on 15 weren’t a big deal, but 12 and 14 greens are as good as they’ve ever been. They’re getting so much more sun than they used to get. He’s also been hand watering greens, which is helping to keep the surrounds firm.
As for the club itself and new ownership, this may not last, but the only thing you’d notice changing from old ownership to new ownership is that Ed isn’t there anymore. Also, we’re capping membership (if we haven’t already). So while it’s been busier, Escalante isn’t just bloating the member rolls for a cash grab. Same staff. No changes to infrastructure as of yet.
Enjoyed listening to the boys chop it up about the rankings.
I have a hard time differentiating between Your Brilliant Classic Country Club vs the Other Brilliant Classic Country Club.
It’s why I think memorable courses like chambers or Erin deserve to be there.
Good golf game overview pod on TC!
Going over least favorite players it always makes me chuckle that @Tron hates ZJ so much but also like guys who are better than the sum of their parts.
Hand up, ZJ has been tough lately, and he’s a massive nerd, and I’m a homer for anything from Iowa. But you gotta respect a guy who built a career like that out of nothing!
Admittedly he’s a corn ball but damn he’s had an impressive career considering the physical tools he’s working with.
