Today was slow, but went well. They brought back another drug I was taken so that’ll hit a little hard the next few days.

No excuses, though. I have to win the Findlay event on Saturday.

Keep showing up. Keep living. Keep celebrating pars.

Team,

It’s been a while since I’ve given an update so buckle in.

This Thursday is round 6 of this regiment, 26th total. We’re hoping this will be the last round before the next plan of action. Overall, I feel okay. You kind of get used to operating at 60-70% on a good week. On the bad weeks, we continue to power through as best we can.

Side effect wise, fatigue and skin issues are the big one. One of the chemo drugs I’m on has turned my face and torso into rash city. As cool as rash city sounds, its been the biggest physical setback. I’ve been prescribed all the lotions, creams, and goops in the world to combat the itchy and dry, but the relief is minimal. I’ve done my best to keep moving and working out, but every time I sweat, it escalades. And not the cool “pimp my ride” escalades.

After speaking with MSK in NYC, they’re team feels that an aggressive form of radiation is the way to go before we consider surgery. Due to all my previous surgeries, the scar tissue is a concern. From what I’ve gathered, I basically have abs of steel. I could have misheard, but that’s what I’m going with.

The radiation treatment would mean anywhere from 5-15 rounds of radiation. That would mean a treatment per day, so Roz and I will be spending some considerable amount of time away from home in New York. With that, all kinds of logistics need sorted out to make sure our home and pup are cared for. This also means trying to navigate the financial burden of being away for so long.

We still feel good about this option. Not having to cut me up again is ideal because that’s a whole other road to plan for.

So with that, continue the thoughts and prayers. This community means so much to me and is a true escape when the days are dark. Getting out to the Findlay event was a huge boost to the spirits, even though I had to cut away early to find a couch to lay on. Seeing some of you out there was a real joy for me.

Thanks for being in my corner. Wear some blue on Thursday.

Love yall,

I’m sure you have, but be sure to reach out to your local ACS chapter - as well as NYC’s and the national org. Tulsa’s biggest annual fundraiser is geared towards providing transportation assistance to/from treatments so (hopefully) there’s a similar resource up there.

If nothing else, I’d love to get you in touch with the folks on the corporate side of ACS - let them unleash their full quiver of resources for you and see if they can’t help take some of the burden off this next phase of the fight.

Give 'em hell, Goose!

Update time:

Firstly, I don’t know how colons and semicolons work. Anyone willing to explain, please do so as if I were a 7 year old.

NYC and OSU are in agreement on the next steps.

We have a consult next week with the radiology team at OSU to move forward with an aggressive ablative radiation. This consult will determine how many treatments we will need. Anywhere from 10-15 rounds.

It’s a less invasive option than surgery and for that we are thankful.

I’ve finished my 26th round of chemo and now we’re on a bit of a break. Thankfully the chemo worked and the tumor on my liver has shrunk.

More to come after next week.

Thanks for being in my corner.

Keep showing up. Keep living. I’m blessed to have you all.
