Flagging Posts

Guise, for the love of God, don’t use the flagging system to fight your battles. It makes me pick sides, and honestly, a lot of these personal battles seem petty and ridiculous. Both sides come off poorly. Three cheers to whomever can show restraint and practice the art of ignoring. There’s an ignore function on the site which you can enable to block certain users. Use it! Don’t get sucked in! It doesn’t matter!

Laugh at yourself. Relax. Move on.

I don’t want to sift through 25 flags a day. Figure this shit out on your own or I will in whatever way I please. I love you all.

Edit to add: think of the flags as a “break in case of emergency.” If something is very egregious/inappropriate/vulgar than by all means. But the derivative snipes at each other are killing me!

Agree completely. I have not flagged a single post.

I couldn’t find this. Where is it?

Exactly!

Although I’ve done it a few times just in retaliation because it’s so illogical and arbitrary.

Moving on.

Click through to user profile. Top right under message, the “Normal” box has two other options when you click on it, one being ignore. Kind of hidden.

Beautiful, thank you.

Never flagged a post but i do find it a bit funny that you are in charge of dealing with it. Would have thought @MerchCzar or @Tron would have had to rule with an iron fist.

Yeah but Randy is tall.

In my mind, I imagine a light goes off in the Killhouse and there’s like a rotation or maybe they flip for it or something.

Ignoring works fine under normal circumstances but when an ignored user hijacks a thread and makes it about themselves, it needs to be moderated.

Agreed. Like in the Ireland thread. Two guys completely hijacked an interesting conversation about links golf in the UK. A bummer.

This doesn’t help when you restate what you think the problem is!

Agreed. This #Process is multi-faceted

@Randy

Maybe you could help.

Could you tell the folks on this forum to stop reading my posts in bad faith, and to genuinely give me a chance to chop it up and engage without being called a troll?

Since I was paroled, I have contributed thoughtfully many times, starting threads about Gil Hanse and a 10 club limit, and responding with thought-provoking ideas about links golf and ways to improve great courses.

If you delivered a moving sermon that preached the virtue of forgiveness, maybe people would put down the pitchforks when I’m around.

They look up to you Randy, this place isn’t far off from Guyana!

What do you say?

I’ve got a piece of advice: change the Jim Rome avatar

why?

Jim Rome is a blowhard. If you’ve been taking notes from him on how to discuss your opinions on a message board, stop.

This is much better

Also, I totally agree about people not giving you a chance nowadays. You have been much much better recently. Genuine almost
