Did people complain about this when it came out? Because it was great
Literally why I (recently) joined this community.
I do wonder a bit if the Omni Film Rooms are suffering a little from the same issue the NLU guys felt after committing to do so many Crash Course podcast episodes? A sense of same-ness?
I wish people were still capable of forming their own opinion, rather than just following the herd and parroting whatever Golf Twitter deems is a good course.
Youāre still allowed to like a course even if it doesnāt have 3 templates
if anything people should be complaining that Randy and Poosh played the Fazio course at Barton Creek when there is a Coore Crenshaw.
The Faz course seemed decent though!
and that C&C is probably the least interesting of their courses Iāve played!
For sure.
As people can tell on here, I like to fit in with my opinions. ![]()
Thereās some of this for me. I think this series just feels vaguely unfocused and not entirely necessary. I imagine weāre all happy to have content but speaking for myself Iām not sure what the point is. If you feel like me itās easy to look at the Omni part of this and feel like itās just all a big ad. If this was BMW sponsored and filmed at Streamsong I donāt know if those same complaints would be levied but the same underlying angst would probably still be there, Iām guessing.

I am familiar, but thanks for explaining for those that arenāt. Like I said, I think all of the Omni courses show, besides the new PGA Champ course, look fun to play, but not interesting from a video or content perspective. Also, I donāt think a 7 would make it a top 50 public course in America, though, which is what I was getting at earlier.
And to be clear, the point I was trying to make here was that I was a lot less educated on the topic and so I had a lot less opinions. Like anything, as you learn more about a subject your opinions become stronger or more specific.
This is 100% the difference in all of their content across the board. Itās the differentiator for the good and can miss stuff and itās very easy to pick it out.
The original content has a clear purpose and style that fits with the brand. The sponsored stuff has other objectives. Which is fine. Itās just not must-see content like Strapped and TS are. Itās as simple as that.
I donāt really get this?
Feel like the majority of us enjoy the NLU personalities. There are only a handful of courses (that they probably donāt have access too) that would actually upgrade the content.
Plus, any course worth seeing already has 50 videos of people playing it on YouTube
And what Iām trying to say is opinions on good golf courses should be more subjective, but it seems the more GCA stuff that gets passed around, the more objective golf course rankings become.
Can we get a ranking of shower pressures and fixtures at these Omni properties?
Iām not sure why we canāt just let each āmainā video series be itās own lane. The are all so distinctly, and probably intentionally, different. Film Room does not hinge on the venues.
Iām pretty sure on either a nest pod or Neil on the Making Media podcast talked about how Film Room has taken on being the catch-all for content that isnāt TS or Strapped (i.e. playing lessons, Tron alt shot, Michelle Wie West walk and talk).
He has Pasatiempo, Kapalua, and Chambers Bay as 7s, so a 7 is very much in Top 50 public range.
Not every course looks great from drone shots. I actually thought Bedford Springs looked pretty good, but would agree neither Barton Creek or Cascades really showed. So be it. Omniās not going to get your business.
Much earlier in the thread, I guess after the Bedford episode, I said I figured weād be able to get some sense of how much the boys were shilling for Omni based on each episode. I think thatās a little borne out. Tron and Neil spent a good chunk of time talking about how much they liked the course, how excited they were to go play it again, etc. That was essentially the focal point of the episode. Meanwhile, Randy and Poosh said basically nothing about the course, except maybe to mention that it was in nice condition and express their pleasure that it was wider than they expected it to be. And in this Cascades videa DJ and KVV kinda talk about the history and a few holes but thereās not really any effusive. Itās notable, given the first video, how much the guys in the second and third video are just kinda like āthis is a place we just played golf.ā
But by saying that youāre telling me my opinion is not my own.
DJ opened the video with the comment āitās kinda like a mountain Pinehurstā
Maybe Iām being too judgmental, but man did that comment stick with my brainā¦it felt like the type of ridiculous comment they would rip on a podcast
Did he say that in voiceover or on the first tee? I can see that after staying in the hotel overnight given that the hotels date to about the same era.
