FcF Presents: The Classic Club Championship (June 7th 2025 at Diamond Springs GC)

I was only putting steel in those. They’re regular shafts and just want a stiff.

Perfect

if this is your bag;
Driver is 1
FWs are 2
Irons are 1
Putter is 2 (although we don’t love the superstroke, I’m not going to ask you to regrip it)

6 points is the w/g combos

I tried the irons out on my school’s Trackman. The good thing is that i don’t think new shafts are needed. I’m amazed at the durability of stiff steel from 30-40 years ago. The grips are another thing, these Karma grips are on sideways. LOL

Bump - about a month out from payments due, for those of you who’ve forgotten…

Also don’t forget to post your clubs if you want to receive a morning round bonus

apparently one spot opened up - @ForzaJuve you’re the first in off the waitlist (congrats)

Please make sure to signup on the UKG link. See notes above and elsewhere for other requirements, lmk if questions

If there are any spots unfilled in the UKG as of APRIL 25 I will go to the waitlist to fill them, with priority going to people who are signed up in UKG first.

Shouldn’t the putter be worth 3?

Callaway hickory stick putters were made in the early 80s, not historical hickories. Also, whether it’s 2 or 3 wouldn’t make a difference in your tees, so you’re fine.

Just grabbed this awesome set of powerbilt persimmons off eBay for $50 shipped.

Oh Damn.

Those look fantastic.

Pretty sure those clubs require you to rock a cardigan and cigarette to complete the look.

Is there any golf happening on June 6th/8th?

Is there a hotel that most everyone is staying at or am i the only “foreigner”?

Lodging is on site and included in the cost.

No lodging at DS so maybe you are thinking a different event?

@Iceman some folks are probably staying overnight but I don’t believe there is a central landing spot. Others can chime in if there is.

Fuck. Yeah. Momentary lack of brainage.

I was thinking Loop the Dunes.

My bad Iceman.

If staying overnight, I think most will be in downtown GR. Plenty of hotels, airbnbs, and other stuff to do there. But it doesn’t look like there’s a primary hotel for everyone.

as mentioned, definitely no lodging on site. Diamond Springs is a little off the beaten path - probably better to stay somewhere closer to GR for access to amenities and whatnot. no specific place i’ve heard of the group gathering as of yet either

Bump and reminder! Get your payments in by April 25 or I’m hitting the waitlist - replacements will be based on order of application, 24 hours to respond & pay before I go to the next man up

@CorneliousPoon @Forzajuve - both you guys need to signup via UKG link posted above or you’ll also lose spots to the waitlist

also also, make sure to post your clubs and get credit for your morning round tee boxes! If you don’t get a set up here for us all to giggle at, you don’t get credit, and then you have to play from the tips. Diamond Springs is not an inherently hard course, but it is meaningfully more difficult from each progressively longer tee box…
