I do some dabbling
It was Kittle.
It might be a wash. But I think Saquon is going to have a bounce back year, and Dillon is going to be the TD guy on the Packers this year.
This is a 2 Flex spot roster league, so itās essentially a 3WR league.
Oh Christ Iām an idiot. Ok so I think I liked your roster a hair bit more before, but this probably comes down to how risk averse you are. Jefferson is way less risky than CMC at this point, and Kelce is less risky than Kittle (and better!). I still think saquon kinda stinks, but Iām fully in on a big numbers year from him. Penny feels like fools gold, and Iād worry that the packers are going to have to throw a ton, and Jones is going to get a ton of targets and be on the field a lot more.
But like I said, I think itās close to a wash, and your personal preferences on a few players should always be the tie breaker
Hereās a question⦠I offered to trade Toney for Dameon Pierce, and a friend came back and said theyād do it if I traded Lamar for Burrow, tooā¦
Iām kind of not a Burrow fan, but in 6pt PassTD scoring, he might be just as good.
I am kind of in on Lamar as an overall top-3 QB this year and thatās exciting. But I would love to have Pierce ā¦
Would you take that deal?
Oh thatās really tough. 6pt passing TDs means a decent amount of Lamarās rushing advantage is negated. The bengals offense might be even better this year too, with a better OL. Plus their D will probably take a step back and force them to throw it more.
Iām not a Toney fan. Dude is electric, but I canāt see him ever staying on the field. Pearce looks good, but itās hard to see a ton of value in him on that team.
Gun to my head, I think Iām taking the Burrow/Pearce side because of the scoring format, and the ravens still having a shaky OL and underwhelming weapons not named Mark Andrews. And always better to have any starting RB over a 2nd/3rd string WR with health issues and a shaky QB.
What is everyoneās favorite ways to choose the draft order? I have done a myriad of things but always love a new way to freshen it up.
- Had people send me a song choice, make a playlist and shuffle it.
- Randomly assign F1 drivers and use their qualifying position as the order.
- Numbers from a hat, if youāre in person.
- Randomizer on Sleeper.
- Iāve always wanted to do the Wonderlic but people always bitch about taking a test.
- Double blind bingo balls to assign names to a number and then draft position to a number, then match those up.
My buddy has his daughter draw out of a hat, then photoshops each person into a picture with the appropriate number somewhere in the picture. They are typically pretty good
Usually just reverse order from the previous yearās finish. In redraft leagues, itās not really necessary but itās also fun to make the more consistently successful owners always have to draft from the back
I think it kind of ends up arbitrary though because good owners are also good drafters and thereās a case that the back end is actually better than the front. Usually why I always try and find something random. But I see your point of the reverse standings order.
Youāre not wrong at all. In 25 years of playing fantasy, it never fails that, if you do it random and the previous yearās finalists end up in the top 3, that someone in the league gets super pissy about it. Iād honestly love to have a league where everyone is competent and reasonable and you can do fun things like that. Hell, my longest league is a keeper league where we keep 2 every year with no restrictions because a handful of guys in the league, mostly older and less tech savvy, get all up in arms when we talk about adding restrictions or a draft spot penalty for your keepers
we do ours NBA lottery style. If you finish top 3 aka in the money, you have the same odds (4 ping pong balls) and if you finish in the bottom 4 you have the same odds (10 ping pong balls). When your name is drawn you get to pick your draft spot.
I really like that, especially the part about picking your own slot. One league Iām in does that, along with being up to keep up to 2 players, and itās always fun to figure out the best draft slot for the guys that will still be on the board
I run a keeper league that started with people from work 9 years ago and has morphed into a work/friend league. Itās an in person draft too. You get 1 keeper in the round you took them last year but every year after the first year you keep them they move up a spot in the draft. If you grab a rookie late, you can get value from them for years.
We used to try to do fun stuff to determine the draft order but itās hard enough getting 10-12 people together for the in person draft let alone a 2nd thing to figure out the order. We let the person who won the league pick their draft spot first, then 2nd place, and so on. Youād be surprised how often the winner doesnāt pick 1st overall. The keepers and what round you have them in determine where people want to pick most of the time.
No one has ever repeated as winner either.
any last minute leagues or pick em pools ? anything?
I had a draft earlier this week picking 12th in a 12 team PPR league. I ended up having Derrick Henry fall to me at 12 and then took Kelce at 13 overall. I wasnāt targeting Henry and was not going to take him at all if I had a mid round pick but seemed like letting him get away at 12/13 would be malpractice even with the concerns about his mileage and the Titans stinking. Any thoughts?
Extremely great pick there. He went 4th in mine. Curious if Andrews was available to you or you prefer Kelce.
- Nevermind - the other guy just cancelled his offer.
Keeper league draft tonight and just had a trade offer thrown my way - looking for thoughts:
12 person league - We can keep up to 5 but donāt have to keep that many. Due to a dismal year last year, I have first pick in R6 (first non-keeper round) and first pick in any round prior that I choose not to keep. In past years, there have always been a few guys that choose to rebuild and only keep 2-3.
Iām thinking of keeping
Stafford
Fournette
Mclaurin
Deebo
5 slot is undecided.
- I could keep Josh Jacobs (only other player from last year worth keeping)
- I could accept a trade where I would get (and keep) Jalen Hurts but give up my 6th round pick in exchange for an additional 11th. So no 6th and since itās a snake, I wouldnāt pick next until last pick of 7th round
- Donāt keep anyone in that 5th slot and have the first pick in the 5th and 6th rounds.
QBs are generally the highest point earners in our league and you can start one at QB and one at OP.
Thanks, was so unexpected I of course was second guessing. He went sixth in my other league.
Andrews was available at 13 also. I had no preference between them but very badly wanted one of them at 13. Couldnāt decide between the two so I flipped a coin on draft day and it came up Kelce.
Henry falling to 12 is ridiculous imo. I think heās got the injury behind him and had been incredibly durable before that. I think heās going to be a monster this year
